tried on an $800 dollar pair of shoes today
beginning school shopping. wanted to look at shoes. I always look at the "neiman marcus outlet" shoes first, becuase i like pliner dress shoes.
anyway there was a pair of black patent leather pointy flats with a tiny heel. they fit like "buttah" and felt soft like kid glove leather. hand stitched and lined with the kid glove leather. absolutely gorgeous. looked at the price tag.
$800. reduced to $100. i cannot imagine at any time, no matter how rich you are paying $800 for a pair of shoes. that you are going to walk on.
i am going to make myself wait til monday and see if i still want them. the money for clothes is sinking funded. part of me wants to see what it is like to wear an $800 dollar shoe

Oh I bet they felt sooo nice! I can't bring myself to pay that much for shoes. And I'm still kicking myself for not getting the pair of black pumps that had the silver metal snakes encircling the very high heels....yes, they were $500.....but still! You just don't find things like that every day!! Anyway, it is a good deal but you can save $100 by not buying them.
And if you DO end up buying them, I really want to know.....what DOES an $800 pair of shoes really feel like?! Better be comfy like wearing houseslippers for that kind of money, but look a million times better!-Suzanne

That much for a flat? Awww honey, if I'm spending that much on a pair of shoes, it's going to have a killer heel to it.

Now that is an $800 pair of shoes.

I just paid $50 for a pair of sneakers and had heart palpitations, LOL! I could not fork over the $100 and $800 is unthinkable.
I can't even imagine not thinking twice and paying that $800 for SHOES!Nancy

$800?! Ack!! Those shoes had better wash your dishes, do your hair and keep you company on cold winter nights for that price, lol. Way to go taking your time to decide if you want to pay the $100. And if you do buy them, I want to see pics of those incredible shoes.

If the shoes feel that great and you really love them, then I say go buy them! Yeah, $100 is a lot in my book, but it doesn't sound like you go out buying $800 shoes all the time. Treat yourself. You'll feel special every time you wear them!

the fit passed. i think i wanted the idea of them rather than the actuality. I like concept of shopping that i learned on TV debt show-- about going shopping, writing down what you think you want to buy, then waiting 48 hours. this eliminates impulse buys.
i didn't want them as bad as i need underwear, socks and knit tops.
i inventoried my shoes and can "get by" another 6 months to a year for dress shoes. my affirmation for wants is "god will have another pair of shoes for me later". heck i got that eldred wheeler tiger maple chest of drawers at the salvation army from similar type of meditation.
soon, i have to resole two pair of birkenstock boston clogs and that is where the shoe budget will go.
i thought about what made them extraordinary. they were lined with deer skin (?), i think. they were a "turn shoe", if you know what that is, then reversed and topstitched, and then there was a gorgeous italian leather sole on the bottom. definitely "hand did".
i was once told that the rich ladies who buy those expensive shoes take them to a cobbler and have a rubber half sole and taps put on the sole to protect them.11% gross to retirement

If I had the extra cash I probably would buy the shoes for $100. Knowing fully well they were my GOOD SHOES!!!!! As I get older the more comfortable the better with shoes. One reason I really like Aerosole shoes.
No I could not imagine buying $800 shoes especially if they were flats. On the other hand I did buy a pair of flats at Payless and wore them once and could not wait to take them off since they hurt my feet. I do have a couple pairs of shoes from them that actually wear well.
