(sigh) Day 10 of no fridge....
When we got up here to our cabin, the fridge wasn't working. It is only 14 years old (I think that's young!), and DH did his best to fix it, but it is caput.
So--reluctantly, we ordered a new fridge. I say ordered, because we don't have electricity back here, and have to get an LP running fridge. (like we had)
I say reluctantly, because.....have you checked the prices on these babies??? Ugh.
But after living out of a cooler for 10 days, I am ready to spend the cash. It should be here by mid-week this week. We have a freezer )thank heavens) in the barn (also LP), but ...do you know how many things you need but can't freeze? I'm doing all I can--powdered and canned milk, etc.
I used to like camping...but I was younger then.______

Yeah, know what you mean about the age thing. Lot of things I could've done "back then" with a smile instead of like now with a moan and a groan...if at all.
Hate to hear about the fridge. Never priced a propane one but electric is bad enough. Ugh...hope the rest of the time goes better. We used to live in Ohio, in Pataskala and Columbus,. Sometimes I miss it.Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Sorry to hear about the fridge - it's always hits when you are not expecting it. Like you, I think 14 years is a bit young to lose it - I'd just be starting to save for a replacement now myself, esp. if it wasn't used year round too! Is there any maintenance that could be peformed when shutting it down between uses that may make the new one last longer?

A little late but make ice in the freezer. A couple gallon jugs worth every other day is a whole lot cheaper than a new fridg. If you have a long (80qt or better) ice chest...stand it on end and put a couple shelves in it. Put the gallons of ice on the top shelf. Almost looks and acts like a fridge.
