you are going to be on the sloppy wet side of this storm.
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

What I don't like are the tornadoes that sprout out of these storms.I'm thankful that our house is set up so the the hallway is right in the middle of the house. Whenever there is a tornado,we shut all of the bedroom & bathroom doors & hunker down in the hallway w/pillows....its the safest place to be.

They showed grocery store shelves in your area early yesterday morning and they were pretty bare. I went to the grocery store yesterday after lunch and the shelves were pretty picked over even here. I am on the south side of Houston.

My friend and family call me Ms. Emergency Preparedness! I am not concerned about this storm (for us) but it made me look over my emergency plans/stock. We bought a generator last year. I need to buy oil for it for the scheduled changes it will need IF we have to use it for any period of time.

Take care! I am watching the news. Let us know how you are when it is all over.

I'm thankful that our water stock is in place -I really don't feel like going anywhere, anyway - everyone here, including myself have been sick

When I hear of "panic mode shoppers" it's a reminder to myself than I'm not crazy for stockpiling....and when things like this happens, or the finances get a little tight, I am thankful for the stockpile. We have everything we need and there is no panic.

Don't you love those people that have to run out and get everything. I keep stocked up, so that I don't have to do that!

exactly!lol. its about 4:30pm & the winds have picked up considerably. We've had to run a few errands & take/pick up some older apes from work...we passed by the grocery store & I am sooooo glad that we didn't have to go in there - It was nuts.
