Default We're Officially Under a Tropical Storm Warning

I checked the weather channel & in a red boxed area it said our area was now under a tropical storm warning. Earlier this morning the sun was out & not a cloud in the sky.....now all of the sudden we are looking at black clouds coming off of the ocean and the winds have picked up a little. Unbelieveable how our weather changes.lol Soon- to- be -hurricane Alex is pushing all of this stuff our way.I'm pretty calm when it comes to things like this.....but now we are wondering how dh can come up with his required hours for his job.....most of the hours that he gets are from driving and servicing sites that are on the border...like Brownsville, etc, which is dead center of the "cone"(projected path). I told him that tomorrow, if its not going to be that bad, for him to go & get as much done as he can, then get back here by late afternoon....the rest of his hours he can make up doing administrative work on the computer from home.

    you know the drill!
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Yeah it's kinda wierd you can go to bed watching the weather and it's one thing, wake up the next morning and it's headed for you.

joke: Is there time to ship DD back to TO?

Seriously, I hope all goes as well as it can. Is Deep Horizon going to be flung to the horizon? Hope you guys don't have to clean a whole lot of oil / tar off everything if it does make landfall.

Let's hope it hits fast and keeps moving north. You guys won't get it so bad, and we could use the rain.

I am in Houston and they are saying we could get a lot of rain. We could use some rain, but not the flooding kind. It has been cloudy and windy/gusty all morning.

    Stay safe!

yep, the only thing that I have to do is to secure our young fruit trees, take the tent down (kids have been using it for a summer club house), and bring things in the garage that could be blown away. I already have water, etc. all stocked up so we're pretty secure. I don't think we'll have to board windows - its just a tropical storm.Dh might do that anyway.
Just a note...I went to Walgreens today b/c they were having a sale on bottled water (24/2.19), I was going to add it to our stockpile....& its all gone - that's a pretty good indication that people who haven't been preparing will be in a panic & you'll have a hard time finding bottled water anywhere.
I'm thankful that our water stock is in place -I really don't feel like going anywhere, anyway - everyone here, including myself have been sick
