I think people need to look at it this way:
If you aren't going to use it, what's the point of stressing about it? Obviously, the makers of such product are not going to roll over and quit selling the product just because a couple of people on a frugal message board say otherwise. There may perhaps be people out there that will use the product and only use it once. They may realize that it's just not for them and there's no point in making such a big deal out of the continued sale of such a product.
Basically, why is everyone so concerned over something they may never buy?
Unless you're with the EPA and can find ways to petition the company to stop producing the product, you're just blowing hot air. You could be using that energy for more frugal subjects.Wife to DH since 10/31/2002!

I saw the commercial and thought it was wasteful too. Just more stuff to pile up in landfills. For what it's worth I have lupus and a compromised immune system and I use a hand towel.

On the flip side of the coin, there are always other sides....
What about the person who makes the towels? Should we all just condemn the product which in turn employs people and also all the companies who supplies the products to make the product or the truck driver who distributes it and on down the line? Perhaps the company who makes it gives money to charity.
I think if someone who WORKED for the/a company that was involved in this product came in and said they were losing their job because of any of the reasons stated in this discussion the thoughts on paper towels would probably go in another direction. We would be up in arms and have great sadness for that person. We would want a different outlook for the towel makers. Companies are made of humans and in the current job market those humans are hurting. The math never lies, budget in INK!

I probably will never use them. I love the idea of just putting a roll of paper towels in the BR when company comes, and will do that from now on. I am a germ freak, so I can't stand the thought of sharing or reusing towels.I am never sick, but I attribute it to consuming more than double the RDA of fruits and veggies daily. I like that idea better than rolling in dirt.

I probably won't buy them but I'd say my sister probably does. She is a totally against germs of any kind. She even takes napkins and hand sanitizer and wipes down the entire booth, seats, etc at McDonalds before she will let her kids sit down. It's her money so if she wants to buy them it's ok with me!
When we have company I use hand towels but I go into the bathrooms a couple of times and change them for fresh ones (or more often depending on how long the company is here). I only use paper towels in the bathroom if someone has a stomach virus.

I like the idea of paper towels in the bathroom too. My mom does that and I love it. I hate the idea of using a towel at anyone's home except my own and when we have people over we put out papertowels as well. I don't think I'd necessarily buy these but I think it is a great idea. Paper towels are not filling up landfills- they are biodegradable. I am not into being wasteful, but I think that sometimes people get on a bandwagon about things and don't look at the whole picture. It isn't all black and white.

It's not something I would by but I can see use for it like as mentioned before by whomever it was that does in home care and can't use their client's hand towels. It would be easier to get a box of these instead of pulling them off a roll and getting them in a ziploc. easier to get out when you need one too.
My sister is one who would probably buy them, but she doesn't have kids and has a bigger disposable income. If they were given to me, I'd save them for when we were going to have a lot of company over or for dealing with sick folks. But I'm not holding my breath for a gift of them, so we'll stick to our pile of hand towels that is in the bathroom. 3 hand towels fit on the bar and I have more of them on a shelf. Everyone that comes over knows they can grab a fresh one if they want. I do make sure I have fresh ones up before everyone comes over, but if they don't get time to dry before the next person needs one, they can grab a fresh one.wife to carl

I felt the same way when I say the ad for the auto pump hand soap thing, because you know regular pump soap get germs on the pump . . .nevermind you are going to WASH THEM WITH SOAP after you touch the pump.
This is why I got out of a career that was mostly marketing, it made me feel dirty to push S*** like this.
