Resignation Tendered To Whom It May Concern
Resignation Tendered To Whom It May Concern: I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year old again. I want to go to McDonald’s and think that it’s a four star restaurant. I want to sail sticks across fresh mud puddles and make ripples with rocks. I want to think M&Ms are better than money because you can eat them. I want to lie under a big oak tree and run a lemonade stand with my friends on a hot summer’s day. I want to return to a time when life was simple. When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn’t bother you, because you didn’t know what you didn’t know and you didn’t care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset. I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good. I want to believe that anything is possible. I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again. I want to live simple again. I don’t want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of paperwork, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness , and loss of loved ones. I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth , justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making angels in the snow. So....here’s my checkbook and my car keys, my credit card bills and my 401K statements. I am officially resigning from adulthood. And if you want to discuss this further, you’ll have to catch me first, ‘cause....... . . . . . . “Tag! You’re it.”

Everyone is different, but I've found that my life just gets better and better as I age. I always thought being an adult meant you could do whatever you want, and then I grew up and found out it usually does. Woo!

What a great plan!! just reading your post lightened my load - and I didn't know it needed to be lightened!! LOL!!
Go for it - for an hour, a day, as long as you want!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Great post, ladytoysdream! I loved it.
I'd go back to 7 yrs old.....by 8, I had to do dishes every night and clean the bathroom. 7 was better.______

Love it!
I'm watching my almost 8 year old play in our little pool in the back yard with his neighbor friends, laughing and splashing. I hope his world is just like that and wish I could join him!

No thank you. ESp. if I had to grow back up over again!! No control over anything-where I went, what I ate, even what I said and thought was jurisdicted/ School everyday in those hot desks. Freezing recess w/ stinky mittens on the register. Independence and choices are worth the responsibilities and burden of being an adult. (and I had a good childhood).

I think it depends on what stage of life your in As you get older you start to look at your own mortaility and that of your friends and family and illness starts to become way too real to you. I never thought about being sick in my thirties or forties but 50 comes along and things start to change You realize your never going to be more than you are now and it can be troubling On the other hand I wouldnt want to go thru the other years again once was enough and I am content with my life so I guess its a double edged sword
