    Default White towels

I finally had the opportunity to buy new towels. It had been about 15 years.....I decided to go with all white because they can be bleached. I only bought 6 to start so I can see how it goes.

What works best for you? White towels or colors????

Colors. Gray to be exact. I can never get my white towels to be any other color than gray no matter how much detergent and bleach I use.

I like colors but when I've had white, I never had much of a problem with them, although occasionally they had rust spots, I'm not sure what causes that. I like colored towels because as a renter, I can't paint my bathroom walls, and all white drives me crazy.

I use Mrs. Stewart's Bluing: Purpose for my whites. (every load) It's very inexpensive.

Every month or so I add one of these to my white loads. Not very frugal, however our whites are like snow.

My Grandmother swore by bluing & sun bleaching for whites. She had a line right in the sun for white laundry, and lines in the shade for colored clothing.

    Enjoy your new towels!

We have all white towels for bathrooms and kitchen. I LOVE them. I do bleach them and then hang then in the sun and they stay nice and bright white.

I love white towels! I bought fancy colored ones, they ended up with bleach marks from teenage boys zit creme. After that , white! I'm one of those people that love the smell of bleach and sun dried. Enjoy your new towels, they are so soft!

I like colored ones, but we'll probably go with white ones when we sell the house. I can't use bleach on towels here because the lingering odour of bleach makes us sick.

I buy what I find on clearance or on sale, and bleach all of them. I do have a few nice sets for company, etc., but when it's just us, it's the rest of the stuff. I bleach all of them, as I really think the bathroom is just a petri dish for fungus and whatever, what with the humidity, and so they all get bleached. I really should try to figure out how to do a clothesline, nothing like sun-bleached towels!

~When I replace our towels I'll buy all white. We're still using pink and lavender towels given to me for college, cream towels given at our wedding shower, and a few cheapo Ikea towels I purchased for toddler towels since our other towels were just too big and heavy for them then.
The cheapo towels are the only ones that have ever stained(and I have a DH who will mop up juice and coffee spills with good towels ) so I'm buying really good towels when I buy. Our oldest ones came from JCP 12+ years ago.~

Up until now I've always had colored ones but I'm liking the thought of being able to bleach them, so I may switch to white next time around.

I'm so surprised at the numer of people w/ white. We have iron and sulfur in the water. We have sand, brown and moss green. Never could have white w/ this family.

I did the exact same thing a few years back. I love colored towels but was ruining too many with bleach..........some you can bleach but some you can't. And I do bleach all my whites!!

Even went to (mostly) all white in the kitchen too.
