    yeah this

for me it was only an extra 400 a month. that's it.

the house payment was roughly 1000 of which 500-600 was taxes and insurance. i thought it was the holy grail but it wasn't. i think that's why he has it as step 6 because, frankly, it is a real let down.

my taxes and insurance currently are 598 a month, sinking funded.

but there is a real nice sense of security...
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

I had my mortgage burning party a few years ago. I saved the extra money for a year, then took a year off. Now I work part-time.

I would cry-tears of happiness. Then celebrate by saving up for something I have wanted-a trip, piece of furniture. And of course call Dave Ramsey!

Well, we'd probably just try to put more in savings.

We paid off our mortgage a few years ago and had no debts for a while, but recently purchased a used car, so we now have a payment again.

Renovate the kitchen. Frugally. Paint the cabinets, get a new fridge as ours is 10% away from death, put new flooring into both bedrooms.

And have a small f-the-mortgage party. But my in-laws are actually our mortgage 'bank', it's a land contract type thing, so... maybe not.

wow that would give us $3000. a month extra. I would catch up the retirement fund and squirrel away savings. Then maybe bump the house back 12' and make a proper kitchen w/ good storage and an island.
Or if the economy ever gets better SELL. Prob. not.
