Default Dreaming - The first thing you'd do.

What is the first thing you'd do if you paid everything off, including the mortgage?

    Me:
A party! A Mortgage burning party! (a copy)

After that, maybe something a little frivolous, like an unfrugal vacation with all the ammenities.

We already paid off the mortgage and had the party, it was great!!

Now we are working on the last few bills. There are two 5 year loans but they should be paid off in 2 years max. Then we are taking the family out for a nice dinner and the kids have asked to go to ruckers or something like that.

Then it is on to saving!!!!

Oh this is just depressing. I haven't even GOTTEN a first mortgage yet, let alone paid it OFF! So, this really is dreaming on my part lol. Some time in the not-so-near future, when my hypothetical mortgage and all other bills are paid off, I'll travel the world. Yep, that's what I'll do...I'll get my house paid for, and then go pay to stay someplace ELSE. How ironic...but that's probably what I"ll do anyway lol.

I have renovations planned for the house which isn't actually ours yet, most of which will put off until the mortgage, which we haven't actually borrowed yet, is paid off.

I'll save a bit of money and build a proper brick or stone house on our property. That way I can ride out lesser storms and not have to bug out.

Then... a HUGE shindig at my house with food, singing, dancing, games, friends, relatives and loved ones!

Maybe even a European vacation with DH that I've been wanting since I was a kid.

I would have a big party and most of you would be invited. But it would have to be BYOB because come on, I'm not rich, just debt free.

    Then off to France!!

~Our plan is to "vacation" a lot. We want to take the kids one at a time to the great sites and cities around the world.
I had the opportunity to go to Ireland as a teen and DH was in the Navy. We really enjoyed our foreign experiences and we want to travel as a couple. I can't imagine not taking one of the kids each time. I would have done just about anything for an experience like that as a teen. ~

Gosh, I don't know! The actual mortgage part of our mortgage payment is only $370 a month. The taxes and ins are higher than the mortgage monthly .

An extra $370 a month won't make us rich but it would sure help fund our under funded retirement more as we are trying to catch up

Since most of our friends already think we are crazy with this debt free but the mortgage stuff we would probably keep it to ourselves and take a nice 3-4 jaunt somewhere to celebrate. Of Course I would share the awesome news with the villagers though!!!!! Because you guys get it!

Wow! No mortgage, huh? Ummm. I haven't thought that far. I would probably get a couple things that I have put off (not in the budget stuff) and take a trip.
