Songs on the radio
Are there any songs on the radio, that no matter when you hear them, they remind you of something? A movie, a place, an event, etc etc.
When ever I hear...
Running on empty by Jackson Browne
or
Sweet Home Alabama by Lynyrd Skynyrd
I think of the movie Forrest Gump.Russ

UMMMM yep but it might not be an acceptable association according to a few people.
Every time I hear ACDC Back in Black I crave beer! Every party I ever went to as an older teen and young adult had that blasting.
Red Red Wine ~ I think of my two best friends and I singing at the top of our lungs in the car
Alice in Chains ~ Man in A box Makes me think of this place we used to hang out at in our 20's and the people there
The list could go on and on and on!~July 19 saving goal for event $104/$1000

Hold on to the Nights by Richard Marx makes me think of a guy I was dating when he was killed.
Temporary Home by Carrie Underwood makes me think of my grandfather. It had just come out when he died and the verse about an old man in his hospital bed mirrors my grandfather's situation before he passed.
Big John by Johnny Cash makes me think of my son, John. He's a big guy and since he was a toddler everyone automatically calls him "Big John".
I Love You, You Love Me by Barney the Dinosaur makes me think of DD. From the time she could talk she worshiped Barney. We watched and sang songs to his videos for hours a day.
There are lots more, but these are my faves.DD (19)

I forgot my absolute all time favorite.
Daddy's Hands by Holly Dunn. My dad lost both arms when I was 18 months old. This song came out when I was around seven or eight. Back then I thought it was a song about a daddy having hands and I connected it to my dad. As I got older and realized the real meaning of the song I loved it even more.DD (19)

MAMA DON'T ALLOW- Reminds me of when two of my Uncles used to follow my Grandmother around with a guitar singing
Mama don't allow no guitar playing around here
Mama don't allow no guitar playing around here
Well we don't care what mama don't allow
we gonna play the guitar anyhow
Take Me Home, Country Roads- Reminds me of my Sister and I singing together. We sang it all the time, we loved that song!
Almost heaven, west virginia
Blue ridge mountains, shenandoah river
Life is old there, older than the trees
Younger than the mountains, blowing like a breeze
Fire and Rain- Reminds me of my first love and our last conversation we ever had. I broke his heart
I often wonder about him, but that is another life and a lifetime ago.
Just yesterday morning they let me know you were gone
Susanne the plans they made put an end to you
I walked out this morning and I wrote down this song
I just can't remember who to send it to
Anything Led Zeppelin- Reminds me of my BGF. She love Zeppelin. RIP Vicki.
One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer- Reminds me of my misspent youth.
or
I can't decide

"Swingin" by John Anderson! It came out when I was in the 7th or 8th grade and we all loved it! We had to run laps through town for track and we'd all run and sing that song at the top of our lungs! Must have looked like a bunch of nuts LOL!
"Two of a Kind, Working on a Full House" by Garth Brooks was mine and dh's song when we were dating/got married!
"Bringing in the Sheaves" My grandparents went to a very small country church (it was one room and had outhouses). My grand-dad was the song leader and every time I went to church with them I made him choose that song to sing because it was my favorite! Still can't hear it without wanting to cry.

The Best of My Love by the Eagles
A girl who lived in my dorm in college used to lip synch to that song using a curling iron as a microphone. She never really knew the words so her lip synching was really off and it was hilarious.
Of course, a lot was hilarious back then... it was the 70s.....

oh, and a more recent one is Snuff by Slipknot makes me think of the Twilight series of books -
I think this is due to the fact that I was reading the books when I first heard the song, so in my head, I picture the characters when I hear the song - it's weird, but I love that song!!!

pink floyd's money = dave ramsey for me. lane bryant has it on the muzak and i start to laugh when it comes on retail stores.
same with jerry raffety's bakerstreet. one time i was in sears and the song came on. wonder if it is affecting their sales?11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Wow do we have a diversity here!
Don't take the girl by Tim McGraw - We had a chorus recital in HS and a guy I had a HUGE crush on sung that, Every time I hear it I think of him and that crush.
He's Alive by Dolly Parton - I listened to that a lot when my Papa died, it helped.
County Roads John Denver - makes me really want to go home to the Blue Ridge Mountains.
