    Default What a long day!

We had orientation at the college this morning with dd. Took her best friend along too because her mom didn't want to go. It was supposed to be from 9-12. As soon as we got there my IBS kicked in and I spent the first half sitting in the hallway near the restroom while dh went in with the girls. I did get to go to the second half and on the tour of the college. We also had to visit the financial aid lady. She took a lunch break that lasted nearly 2 hours today! We finally got in and she copied their award letters and said she would take it to the business office and try to get it in the computer today and she would DEFINITELY call us by the end of the day to let us know if it was in there or not so we could order books, etc. Of course she didn't call. One of the people doing the orientation told me to order them from anywhere but the campus bookstore and do it now so she would have them in time. I ordered them from half.com and saved 283.00 over the campus bookstore(and that was for their used ones). Pretty proud of myself there!

Got home to a BIG thunderstorm that hit just as we walked in the door. I ended up taking the day off from work and it was a good thing I did because we didn't get home until 4pm and I was supposed to be at work at 1.

I worked at the campus bookstore for a semester and even with my employee discount, Half.com was much cheaper. I remember them asking when I was going to buy my books, lol.

Glad you were able to save so much money!

The kid won't know what books/editions she needs until the 20th....classes start the 23rd...ugh
    nothing like the last minute
Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

Yes, I love, love, love half.com. We saved over 250. ish last semester. They expidited the shipping free and one of the books looked like it was brand new for $30. We hope to use them for fall.
Tell me again why a mother wouldn't want to go w/ her DD on that very imp. trip?? I cannot understand that??

We didn't find out until the 1st what books dd needed and school starts here the 16th. Plus they have almost none of the financial aid in the computers so nearly everyone is having to pay for the books themselves in order to have them on time. She worked hard to earn her scholarships/awards and then can't even use them when we need to.

I'm not sure why her mom didn't go. She usually attends everything the kids do. She has some health problems and that may have been why. I was so nervous and my stomach was such a mess that I didn't even think to ask why but I'm sure she had a good reason or she would have been there. And she did call twice on the cell phone to check on her, etc.

I'm all about saving as much money as possible LOL! It just makes me nervous to buy from something like that because you HOPE they actually send them. I only ordered from people with very high ratings so I hope it's ok. I got an email that one of the books shipped today so hopefully we get them all by the 16th.
