Unhappy Just when things start to look up....

things fall back down..... I swear we just can't catch a break! We have been scraping by for the last oh...year and a half. Things seemed to be getting better. 1 of 3 kids braces are paid off....my car payment is finally caught up after 3 yrs of a rolling 30-60 days late....well Dh hurt his back @ work on Tuesday. Dr sent him home and put him on light duty.....boss calls Tuesday afternoon says stay home tomorrow....no real light duty work. Goes to work today....back to the DR who has him on light duty til Tuesday...recheck....gets back to work and they tell him go home and you can't come back until DR releases you. Other 2 guys were on light duty not too long ago....they let them work....found them stuff to do. No matter what DH company has something to say to him....hes the only one reprimanded....they are always giving him a hard time. Hes been there longer than anyone else (11 yrs) so he has seniority...highest pay....etc etc. they have a HIGH turnover rate and they haven't gotten him to quit yet. Its really beginning to seem like harrassment or discrimination depending on how you look at it I suppose. I had to come home from school early because his blood pressure had spiked up( has high bp) so we monitor at home. I don't know what we are going to do...he said he'll just tell DR hes fine and asked to be released. We can't live on work comp pay. I still can't find a job. I just had to borrow money from my Mom again this week to get groceries! i am so scared right now but I put on my game face for him! :/ Wow sorry so long..... guess I needed to vent...thanks for listening!

As I have seen companies do in Cali., maybe their trying to get him to quit.. You said "highest pay", some companies are trying to weed out the higher paid employees.. Is there anyway for him to look for another job while he is on light duty, with no duty??

My husband was a drywall finisher years ago and was hire by a company at good pay due to his experience, well a few months later he was "laid off". We found out they just hire him so the way lower paid employees could learn how to use some equipment he knew how to use.. The foreman would say "hey why don't you show so and so how to use that so we can get things going faster with 2", after he unknowingly trained 3 men good enough they "laid him off"..

    Sorry you are having troubles.

As someone who has back issues myself, I think I can advise with some confidence.

He needs to get exercising and stretching that back and the associated muscles. EVERY DAY!

I go to the soft touch chiropractor for my back issues. All of mine have told me to get up and going when I pull my back out. It really does feel better faster that way.

    I agree with exercises.

I'm sorry to hear about your troubles. I know how you feel because we are in the same boat with never catching a break. Every time I get us caught up and some money put aside something big happens. In 2009 alone it was an outside water leak that cost us 800.00 to fix, a new hot water heater, a new washing machine and a new used fridge! My dryer went out in Jan. and I still haven't replaced it because dd needed books for college and her financial aid hasn't been put in the computer yet so I used the dryer money for books!

I hope things look up soon! It's really hard to not get discouraged when it seems like only bad things happen! Don't hold it all in. I cry in the shower!! HUGS!

You mentioned worker's comp. They don't like workers comp. Sounds like they're looking for an excuse. Document everything, date, time, who talked to. Every little thing. Maybe you meant unemployment....same thing..document. They would probably fight it. Also who they did allow light duty to. Anything and every detail you can think of. Keep a pad...wishing you luck and good health

Sorry to hear of your troubles, it does kind of sound like they are trying to get your husband to quit so they don't have to pay the higher pay. Thank goodness for your mom so you can buy groceries. Hopefully his back will feel better soon...

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I just wanted to tell you that at the company I work for they will sometimes offer light duty and sometimes not, we as employees wonder about this also. Why is it they have light duty for some but not others? So it isn't only your husbands job that does this.

BTW my husband was on workers comp a few years ago and the pay was 100% I think, it just didn't include the overtime pay. And I don't think it was taxed.

I know how you feel ,we are doing the same thing here, things just keep happening.

I'm sorry you are having the same problems, hopefully they change for you, it gets old really fast.

I will keep my fingers crossed that your DH heals quickly and gets back to work. Will send up a prayer for you too.
