Year of the Mosquito
I swear the mosquitoes are out in full force this year. We have had a couple REALLY good rain storms this year causing some bits of flooding in the area. Those mosquitoes took full advantage of it. I feel like I can't go outside without putting on DEET, or I'll get lots of bites. THe other day I walked to the library with DD in the middle of the sunny day and got bit.
How about anyone else? Are the mosquitoes being an extra nuisance this year for you?

YES! Definitely horrible this year!!!! It doesn't matter what time of day it is or how hot or not it is and they are out in force! It doesn't even matter anymore if we're wearing bug spray or not! It's like they're immune to it now! Blech! It's horrible we all look like we have chicken pox or something because of all the bites we all have!
And for someone who absolutely loves summer......I am so ready for fall!

I agree, flies are also really bad.

I'm probably the only one that's going to disagree lol! I know they're bad back home (Indiana) this year, though. But we live bayside right now and I never even see a mosquito. It's so weird because I figured no matter where I lived in FL they would be bad. Obviously not lol. Ok, I'm going to run and hide now

South Georgia is horrible right now!! I have been trying different homemade insect repellents for DS, he's 18 months, loves outside, but have not been able to find the right recipe yet. So I bought the off fan & attach it to a handkerchief tied around his waist. Helps a lot! Any one have a good recipe for homemade insect repellent?

Probably not for a small child but..
Avon Skin So Soft lightly rubbed on bare skin
Fabric softener dryer sheets also
The dryer sheets work fairly well when camping when tucked around the tent and/or rubbed/placed over the openingBank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.

I know your pain. I must have got 50 bites one day while out working in the yard in my shorts. Next time I wore heavy jeans and they bit me right through the pants!!!! I wasn't using anything to prevent it but long clothing but now in 90 degree weather that is impossible.
Have you tried Lemongrass?I would suggest mixing up some lemongrass essential oil into purified water in a spray bottle for a try. My DD would not use any pestcides and used this. I don't think anything is as effective as deet though. I've broken down and bought a nice- smelling spray for kids to use on myself.
