Hello from Georgia
Hi, I was googling some penny-pinching tips and found your site, very nicely done! My story:
I was raised to be very careful not only with money but also with everyday things we do that, if we don't do them carefully, end up costing money. Everything from maintaining vehicles to wrapping up the vacuum power cord without stretching it, is done with an eye to preventing later damage. With a good job and fresh out of the military, I had nothing to worry about financially, but three years ago I lost my job with no notice. My young student husband and I had no idea how tight those belts would go!
Hubby is happily working now, but we still are very careful because it isn't much. I sold the car and instead ride a very efficient motorcycle. Hubby also rides a motorcycle and has an old, reliable and cheap to maintain pickup. Other than the mortgage we have always been debt-free, as we were both taught that carrying a balance was a shameful thing except for emergencies. No TV, no fancy phones, no expensive dinners out and I'll be blasted if we waste any food in my house! We like to grill in the backyard taking turns at each other's houses and go on motorcycle camping trips together. I sew or patch our clothes and riding gear and do a little sewing on the side, motorcycle seats and such. I also do the work on the bikes and truck.
I see excellent recipes here for home products and cleaning stuff, I just know it will help so much!
It seems that you have a friendly, supportive forum here and I'm glad to jump on in and do some helping myself....

Bank of America is THE godfather of Hell with Wells Fargo running neck and neck. When the world ends the only things that will be left are cockroaches, Walmart, Wells Fargo and Bank of America. Not necessarily in that order. The order remains to be seen.
