Good thoughts and prayers needed
My son (24) has been a snuff chewer (smokeless tobacco) for about 2 years.
The past few days, he has noticed a few lumps deep in the tissue of his lower lip.
Needless to say, he has stopped chewing the stuff since the discovery, and has an appt. with a doctor on Tuesday, the 17th. But he is worried and WE are quite worried.
He lives in FL and we are in upper Michigan. He is in grad school there.
If you pray, please say a prayer for him. Or---some good thoughts and positive vibes would help too. Thanks.______

In my prayers!

Well, DS24 was just too stressed out about the lip lumps and also told me he had jaw pain lately, and a number of other health issues (he's a grad student, so even works in summer and is under everybody's thumb) and so he called them and asked if they had any cancellations and could they work him in.
They did , and the doc said it was gland in the crease of the lip that seemed swollen a bit, but they will do further testing to make sure. Plus, she is sending him for bloodwork and seeing him next week for a physical (his first woman doc doing a phys, heehee). She said he has TMJ and gave him a relaxer for it. And other than that, his symptoms were common of someone who is trying to give up smokeless tobacco. Stress, anxiety, etc. He is still determined to quit, he said that's enough scare for him! He has also been trying to cut back on caffeine, so he has been fatigued. She is going to check him for anemia.
He says he knows he hasn't been taking good care of himself. Skipping vitamins he used to take, eating erratically, skipping running (he's always done for exercise). He ran last night and felt relieved of the anxiety quite a bit. He's re-committed to taking care and eating right and running, and letting things GO more (he's always been my worrier/perfectionist. )
He spent the summer trying to find a new apt. and move, and finishing a manuscript for an article he's helping write, so he's been really a wreck.
So--other than that---physically he's OK, for now.______
