    Question E-Reader

Does anyone here have and use an E-Reader (Kindle, Nook, etc.)?

I am considering saving up for one and would like to find out how everyone likes theirs.

If they got the price of the bigger one down to where the smaller one is, I'd consider it. I do have Kindle for PC and use it for free books. I'm not sure if they have them set up for graphics yet and I know I won't buy one until they do. (and the price is below $200 for an 11" one)

I bought one for my wife last Christmas. Love it! It saves your place, It's compact, downloads are pretty quick.

I have a Kindle and love it. I've had it about a year and can't imagine life without it now. There are also a lot of free and inexpensive books for it. For me it's worth every penny.

If you're thinking of saving up for one and decide on a kindle, download Amazon's free Kindle for PC. This will set up an account for you. You can then start nabbing the free and almost free titles as you come across them, and then download them to the Kindle when you get one. Even if you decide against it, you can still read them on the computer, though that's harder on the eyes.

I look at a site KindleCheapReads.com. The people who run the site list several books every day - they range from $5 down to free. I've picked up some free titles they have listed and several that looked good for a buck or two.

With the Kindle you can also download a free sample of any book you're considering to be sure you want it before you buy. I don't know if the others have the capability because I don't know much about them.

My husband bought me a Kindle after a vacation to Hawaii where I made him take me to all the book stores so I could find a book in the series I was reading....now..it's a simple download in a couple of minutes...would I buy one again???? In a minute!!! They are great!

I have a Nook, and love it, but if I had done a little more research, I would have purchased a Kindle. With the Kindle you can highlight text and save it to your computer. Cool for book groups and non-fiction research reading.

One thing against the Kindle - generally you cannot read the library downloads on it. Different formatting, and maybe also some turf defending, but I can't speak to that. They are probably accessible to some other readers. Your library site should have information about which devices they are compatible with.

However, I have more than enough to read, so that is not really a drawback for me.
