Texting - I feel like a kid/teenager passing notes - my observation

I have my cell phone for emergencies or short calls only. My phone is basically used for texting more then anything else. Since I have free mobile browser...I can surf Facebook and check my email while Im out waiting on others.

Texting cuts out all the stuff you have to do on the phone....preface your one question with niceties and potentially get wrangled into something you don't want to do. Also...it cuts out the 'Um.......I dunno. What do YOU want to do?' game and wait time.

I prefer the proper full spelling of words unless you're trying to make what you're trying to say fit into one message then by all means use the abbreviations but please use the standard ones, not the ghetto/slang ones that only you and your other friends use and understand.

Yay!!

I am one of those people that speaks in ghetto/slang in texts. I drop mostly all of the vowels. lol. I guess my people know what I am trying to say though!!

I only text when I'm at a concert, or some other high-noise location. Otherwise, I find it more work than a phone call.

Dropping the vowels isn't the ghetto/slang that I'm referring to either. If you can understand it then its not slang. I wish I had an example for you.

OR its just me being OLD b/c I'm not up to date on today's slang.

Well, I'm not current on all the spelling shortcuts. I text my husband and kids and that's it. It takes me FOREVER to type a message! I like it though....it is handy.
