It's been in the 60's and raining here since Sunday and I am convinced summer is over here.

I did make the Old Man a beef & veggie soup on Tuesday because I knew he would be coming home cold, water logged and tired.
I think I heard my crock-pot talking to the sandwich maker last night... something about fall coming
I can't be out of money... I still have checks left!

I been using the oven a bit more lately. Which is NOT a good idea in the summer. I did a pizza, batch of brownies, and one batch of cookies.
It sure does seem like fall already. A few days ago, we had a day it rained ALL day...over 4 inches.... the second most rainest day since they been keeping weather records.
Not sure why, but it seems like all spring and summer so far, that we been like 3 weeks early on everything. Even the apples are real early this year. Berries, etc.
Hubby has had orange pumpkins sitting on the step from our garden for several weeks now. I been eyeballing the winter squash in the garden, but don't dare pick it yet.
Making supper last night, I had a hankering for cabbage/rice/hamburg in the oven. Maybe sometime soon. Got to find a head of cabbage first though
AND........
the hubby put a couple pieces of wood in the OWB a few days ago, and fired her up....he said it was a test run to make sure everything is working.

Spring and Fall are my two favourite times of year. Spring because it smells so nice and fresh, and Fall because it looks so beautiful.
My Fall activities have been making applesauce for the most part. Also checking the Farmer's Market for produce. I may just buy some food in bulk for processing. I also acquired a tourist guide for our area. I plan to make a few day trips this fall with DH and friends to explore our neighbouring communities.
Other than that, I'm already preparing for Christmas. I'm knitting gifts up as fast as I can.2012 Challenges

I'm longing for fall, but its still very much summer here. I tend to wait until mid/late September to bring out the Halloween/Fall decorations. Then finish "filling in" once November's here after putting away the Halloween items. Fall is usually out until the end of November.
Have you tried to sign up online with your email address? They email & mail coupons to me maybe every other month or so. August has been a really good month for coupons! I've had $1 votives & tarts email coupon (expired 8/16), $10 off $25 purchase coupon card received in the mail (expires 8/26 I believe) & $15 off $45 purchase email coupon (expires 9/6 I believe). Definitely get signed up w/them online or ask at the store for information.

I bought, peeled, bagged and froze two bushels of green chiles last weekend. During the process, I also made a nice batch of green chili.
Of course, I make chili year around.

I love fall! The cool evenings and beautiful leaves are my favorites. I can't wait to start making all those hearty stews and soups again. I get really "domestic" in the fall and love it!
