Default Remembering Stevie Ray Vaughn.... 20 yrs

Wow...20 yrs ago today, Stevie Ray Vaughn passed away. Its funny how this has stuck in my mind - 20 yrs ago today, I was laying on the couch, watching the news...in labor w/dd Meagan..and the news was reporting that Stevie Ray Vaughn had been killed in a helicopter accident in Appleton Wisconsin....not too far from where we were living at the time....Meagan was born about 12 hours later.

He had recently gotten clean too, IIRC he had 3 or 4 years clean.

I love his music. So sad.

Stevie Ray Vaughn was a wonderful R&B musician that was from Austin Texas. He & his band were chosen by David Bowie to be David's backup band for the "Let's Dance" tour in 1983...his career skyrocketed after that ,and he & his band went on their own after the tour was over.

I'd put him in the Blues genre, and a fantastic guitar player at that. I started listening to him well after he died, but still listen often. Today, in fact.

I also remember hearing about his death. He swapped with someone else (I forget who) for a seat on that plane.
I have his "Couldn't stand the weather" CD. "Tin Pan Alley" is my fave.
