    Default Sick of company.

Maybe I'm being selfish, but dang am I ever sick of having company over. Since the last weekend in June we have had company over every single weekend but one. And that weekend we had to go to someones house.
It would be nice to have one weekend all to ourselves...but it won't be the upcoming weekend.

I'm I the only one that thinks this way? Do you ever get tired of people coming over?

I NEVER have people over and I love it. I love to meet friends for dinner or lunch or something, but I like to be able to come back to my little cave and hide from the world.

I suggest flatulence and BO as a way to free your weekends or even better make sure your political views are the exact polar opposite of whoever is coming over so often.

Just tell the wifey no. If she wants to be social you'd appreciate it if she went to visit them vs them coming to you. You should not be afraid to point out that you live there too and like your peace and quiet on weekend. Or ask her to schedule every other weekend off so you have a break in between. Would she go for that?

If it was just her friends or relatives, I would do that.

OTOH.., she can't say "No" to people when they ask if it's ok if they come over.

    I should rephrase that...

If it HAD BEEN just her friends and relatives....

We've both had people call and come over. I'm just wishin for a darn weekend to ourselves.

So ask her to say no to people on Saturdays and suck it up on Sundays or vice versa? Or ask for every other wknd off? Explain that you need a break from people during your weekend ie relax time. Would she freak? I don't think what you're asking for is unreasonable. Every weekend would be but its not what you're asking for - though you may want that.

When the doorbell rings, tell them you are a hoarder and can't let anyone in because the mess is too embarrassing.

Seriously, though---I KWYM. We built this cabin waaaayy back in da woods to get away from it all. The only person who's dropped by lately is the logger wanting to know which trees are ok to chop here around the cabin. When we go home, our parents have a piece of us, there are family holidays which---DH and me being the eldest of our families always seem to have at our house, I go out in the yard to work and my gabby (but nice) neighbor wants to chat me up.......

I love it up here. Peaceful. We've both had enough of PEOPLE! (FV-ers NOT included)

We never have anyone over. Yes,this is my sanctuary. I use my dogs as an excuse. We go to parks, restaurants or friends houses.

I wish I could limit the neighbors!! They are phillipino and have a huuge family plus they are very social and have a pool. We just want to talk and if the blower isn't going, they are talking louder and beer after beer LOUDER>. I like Labor Day cuz' the party pool closes. Yes I am an old grouch. But they own 6 vehicles and a trailer and play the radio constantly. I is a speaker from the house to the pool. So w/ guests at least 12 cars. I need to live on an island I guess.

If you're being a meany and a grouch then I guess you can include me in the count.

Yep, probably selfish, but honestly...I want to be sociable when I want to be, not when I have to be.

    Just like drugs...JUST SAY NO!!!!

Editing to add...I semi have to be nice to people 5 1/2 days a week...that is if we want any business. I DON'T want to spend the 1 1/2 days I'm off HAVING to be nice also. Sides that, the short time I DO have off is laundry, dishes, cooking, clean ups etc....that does not make me in a good mood in the first place much less having to scramble to get it done when the company leaves....leaving me NO time for myself, to do what I WOULD like to be doing.

Off my soapbox....but yeah, as you can tell it wouldn't set well with me either...guess we're both a couple of selfish grouches.
    Bah humbug!!!!

I enjoy have people over occasionally. There are times when I really could not be bothered and really need to be by myself to help recenter myself.

Explain to you wife that you need some time to relax on the weekends. Your friends and family should understand this to. You can always say, I would love to see you but right now I (we) need some time to myself (ourselves) this weekend.

I think everyone would agree that sometimes you just need some down time.

I can't handle having company for more than a week, then a lot of time in between before I am ready for anymore.. I really like my privacy.

How about telling people that you have highly contagious diarrhoea:

Maybe the upside of not having friends is that this is never an issue for us

I hear ya! We "elder-sat" by great-aunt for the weekend. Since she is such a handful we also had my mom over. It was a looong weekend. Other than my mom coming to get som stuff she forgot, I don't want anyone besides DH, DD and myself in our house until at least next weekend if not longer. I just enjoyed the sounds of our little family without all the action.
