My Poor Megs:(
During her vacation, Meagan decided to get the tops of her ears pierced -through the cartilage. Everything went well until 2 days ago...one of the piercings had become infected and the top of her ear swelled horribly....to the point that we thought we would have to go to the ER to have the earring removed b/c we couldn't take it out. The earring was locked tight & the swelling didn't help matters. So with one last painful try, I managed to slip my thumbnail between the front of the earring & her ear, while w/ the other hand, I had to take my jewelry- making needlenosed pliers to grab the back of the earring - praise God we were able to get it out. Meagan feels better now, but its going to take some time to heal. Owwweeeee

I had the brilliant idea to have my belly button pierced on one of my weekend passes during AIT. It got so infected that the skin swelled and 'ate' the bottom ball. I had to pull it all out of the top hole. Yikes.
So, I know exactly what your poor Megs is feeling! Hope it heals quickly!McD

Your description was much too vivid - really get the idea of pain and swelling - sure glad tht she's doing better.

Hope she feels better. I've had lots of piercings and lucky that none ever became infected. Ears (tops and bottoms), lip, nipple, tongue (done 3 different times cause I kept taking it out and belly button.

My dd has an infection in her earring. Started yesterday, swelled up a little and all that fun stuff. She is only 8 but is handing it pretty good.
Hope your Meagan's ear gets better soon.

As of this morning, the redness & swelling are all gone & Megs tried to put the earring back in , but decided to give a little more time - she's braver than I

Oof! Poor girl

I have a little too much experience with that, and it was my own stupid fault!
In college, I decided to go one night and get my ears pierced 8 times, all the way up my ears, with tiny diamonds. I thought it would be cute - never thinking it would swell to the point where I would be in pain all night, crying, not sleeping. Finally woke up my mom and she brought me to the ER, where a doctor had to surgically remove all of them.
Hope they heal soon
