Default Please Pray For My Friend's Son

He and two other boys removed a 17 year old boy from a party and drove him (because he refused to leave) to his home. The boy was removed from the party because he was forcing his intentions on a 14 year old girl. My friend's son is now being charged with kidnapping. There was no violence, the three boys just picked him up and put him in the car and drove him home.

Don't ask me where the parents were during this party.

Now that's just messed up. I also think the 14 year old girl should be encouraged to speak up about what happened. Hope everything works out okay for your son's friend.

I think they did the honorable thing. Any judge in their right mind would throw the charges out of court....so you'd think. I pray that all goes well.

    kidnapping???? pfft!

Let's charge them with "Interrupting a Drunk Driving Accident" "Resisting Stupidity" and "Hindrance of Juvenile Rape"

Unfreakin believable! The kids do the RIGHT thing and they are arrested???? It's hard to tell the kids to take the high road, watch out for each other and stand up when you see something happening -- if the reward is a set of handcuffs!

Well what do you expect. Its alway the good ones that get in trouble and the bad one gets away with it. My prays are with the young man charged with kiddnapping. Then you wonder while nobody wants to get involved.

I hope the case is thrown out of court before it goes anywhere.

I guess they could have called the police and asked them to raid the party (were drugs and alcohol involved and they were afraid of getting into trouble themselves?)...or called the girl's parents and gotten them to take her home.

I won't ask what the 14 year old was doing there...or what the hell her parents were thinking letting her party with older teens.

My friend's son does not do drugs or drink, they proved it by a urine test.

However, one has to wonder just what was up that they did not call the police. Was the party thrown without the parents knowledge? Was there alcohol at the party? 14 and out at a party? Yeah, one has to wonder where parental supervision was that night.

But, I can see my own son getting himself in a mess like this just because he thought he was doing the right thing. That frontal lobe is just not developed enough at that age. Which is why teens and young adults have one of the highest death rates. Add to that that testosterone has been proven to increase impulsivity in young men and you've got a recipe for disaster.

It's quite a mess. The bottom line is, the young man did not want to leave and being escorted home against his will is considered kidnapping. The only ones who have that authority are the police. Looks like the charges are going to stick.

The charges may stick but he has to be convicted by a jury of his peers; here's hoping the jury has common sense and that the young men have darn good lawyers. Better yet that the young 'kidnapped' man and his parents ask to have the charges dropped.

Well, his "peers" most likely would understand. I'm worried about a jury of adults who just may not.

I think they just have to prove that they broke the law, which technically they did. It does not matter why they broke the law. Of course he's going for not guilty, he could have copped a plea and done less jail time but he feels he was not wrong. I'm not sure how this is going to pan out, ignorance of the law does not abslove guilt.

This whole thing puts fear in my heart. My DS1 seriously could have done something like this thinking he was protecting a girl from harm.
