    Default Check on closed account

Well its been one of those days. Hubby comes home sets down to see if any bills need to be paid via bank online. None due BUT a check for well over $350 dollars that my husband deposited for repair work was written on a closed account. So of course we have several checks out.So my hubby calls the guy doesn't get anyone. So if we can't get ahold of the guy by Friday. Then Monday we will have to file a report with the states attorney. In this state anything over $300 or 350 is a felony. More so written on a closed account. Hubby is hoping the guy just grabbed the wrong check book and it was a honest mistake.

It worked out. The guy has his broker do all his invesments and such.Broker closed that account not knowing his client had wrote a check . So the guy called us back and offered us $100 for our troubles. He will be give hubby a certified check tomorrow.

Glad it was an honest mistake. We've been there before and it is not fun!

Our attorney wrote us a sizable settlement check from a closed trust account once. His secretary had embezzled hundreds of thousands of dollars, the accounts were closed, new ones were opened. His new secretary did not throw the old checkbooks out. She was out of town, he cut us our check. But he wrote it on the closed account by mistake. Needless to say, it was fixed immediately and he told DH he has since had the new secretary shred the old checks.

    Oh that's a relief!
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"
