I like brain games
Clue- Then and now
Scrabble- Then and now
Uno- Then and now
Checkers- Still like it
Connect Four- Still like it
The game of life-then (so like real life HA!)
Mouse trap- then
Mystery date- LOL! Played a very old version with my aunt. Priceless!
There was a game with a tube and pick up stuck through it. You dropped marbles down on top, then pulled out the sticks one by one. You wanted to have the least marbles. That was cool.
Hated Monopoly! My Sister always clean the floor up with me.
My boys and DH play Risk all the time. They really love it!~~~

Not a 'board game' per se...........but BOGGLE. (I have super boggle --just more squares).......I love it.
When I was in college I played the game with a couple profs. for money..........and whipped their butts!!! (which probably crushed their egos too!!!
)
Still have my game......but no one here likes to play it.

I think mine were Life and Emergency My sister liked to pretend that they were the ambulances that drove into the hospital to Trapper John MD. HA! Who's showing their age now ROFL
Oh later on in the years - Monster Mash - you had a stick with a hand on the end with a suction cup. There were several cards of monsters that you had to slap if it matched the one that was on the screen that spinned.
Right now the only game I'd love to play is Pictionary but it seems like everyone else hates that game b/c they think they can't draw. Thats the best part - how did you guess a fire extinguisher from a circle?!

Yes! I think that's it, Kerplunk!
OOOO' I totally forgot about Sorry and Chinese checkers!
We played Backgammon too.
Jenga when intoxicated! LOL! How about we play a game Palooka? I'll bring the vodka. Care to join us Libby? FF?
Did anyone ever build a house of cards? We used to use old decks with missing cards and build massive card structures on my GM's table.
I wonder if the nursing home will even have any board games when I get there? Or will it all be TV hook up games?~~~

Me too, Polly.

Balderdash! I played this with my ex and his family all the time. It's so crazy and words that you probably never heard of with a real definition, and you have to write down the closest on a piece of paper of what you think the word really means. Some of the funniest stuff I've ever read!
We used to play this with our old neighbors, intoxicated too.
This thread makes me want to dig out all of our games in the downstairs closet.

My gf was getting together with her son and his fiance's family and playing games. I thought it sounded like fun so we started getting together and playing games with our adult sons and their gf. We had a blast. We played apples to apples and laughed so hard had tears in my eyes. We also played cranium and I had to draw and I can't draw anything except simple shapes. Of course no one knew what I was drawing. Always loved scrabble and rummikub. We played sequence and probe and battle of the sexes. I started going to resale shops to get used games because sometimes we needed 2 of them because there were so many of us playing.

I've never heard of 'apples to apples'?
And yes - count me in on a games day/night at Polly's!
We'd have to be frugal about this though - pot luck and byob?
