Default Heads Up For Chinese Food Lovers

Now this may not be true in all Chinese food restaurants, but....my dd, who works for a chinese restaurant, came home & told me that the crab that is being served is actually.....tofu or stingray. They are using tofu & stingray as a substitute for crab b/c crab has become too expensive for them to serve. I love chinese food!...tofu???imho...blech.....stingray???...maybe.lol

Then it shouldn't be on the menu as crab. It seems like that would be against the law. Possible lawsuit if someone were allergic to tofu or stingray. Or sued for just plain lying.

it's usually "imitation crab" or "krab". It's whitefish with crab flavoring. That's what you think of as crab in almost all Chinese food.
Unless it is in a crab, it's most likely krab. If it's got that orange or red outer "skin" it's Krab, true crab meat is white...and more expensive than what you can get on a $14.95 all u can eat buffet!

We don't go to buffets anymore. Too many times I've gotten sick because of serving utensils being switched between seafood and non-seafood items. I'm highly allergic to seafood. We do have a Pan-Asian restaurant in the neighborhood though that is out of this world. Not fancy, but clean and the food you can tell has been made fresh for every dish.

Too many people thought the customers were saying "Grope Her" and the waitresses got sick of that.

Me too! It does happen...happened in our town and the restaurant was closed down. They found about 15 cats hanging in the freezer! I'm glad I never ate there.
