Default It could only happen in Holland!

We had general elections on June 9th and the way things are looking we are finally going to have a coalition government almost 4 months later.
This will be a central right government which hasn't happened for a while.
Taking part in this government, is the extremely controversial Geert Wilders who is extreme right wing and won a huge amount of votes in the election along with the CDA - Christian Democrats - and the liberal/conservative party which will be providing the prime minister, Mark Rutte.

Of course we aren't there yet. The whole thing has to be presented to their respective parties for approval and if there are no problems there, then we will finally have a government which has to bring about HUGE budget cuts.

Four months is a long time, there was enough of a song and dance here and it was less than a week I think. Do you think Geert Wilders being part of the government may lessen his appeal afterwards? As you know, we're still getting used to having a coalition government and I guess we'll really start to see what it means when we find out how deep our cuts are going to be on October 20th - I fear for the worst but hope for the best.

We had a few very right wing BNP councillors and still have MEP's in this country but their popularity has really fallen away after an initial spike in popularity. I think they thought they were getting a foothold but the party seemed to start to implode when they got nowhere in the general election. Seems a bit weird that people have gone from BNP to Liberal Democrats (and look where that got us *roll eyes*).

At least 'a' government will be better than none. This one can fall again :-) , whereas the non-government can't.
