Thank you all. I'm not sure about the texting laws here. We moved to this state last fall, and honestly, I just never paid attention to this. We are most grateful that no one was killed or seriously harmed, but frustrated that his tools and car were destroyed. Cheap reliable cars are difficult to find, but we know God is able to provide.

Scary stuff indeed. Hope he has no health problems from this, like Greebo said, they can sneak up on you at a later date so talking to a lawyer & covering yourself is a good plan.

You *have* already contacted his/your insurance company, right?
If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Yes, we have the wheels turning on the insurance. But of course, they turn so slowly....

Sending prayers and hugs your way. So sorry to hear this happened.

I really do not understand the urgency of being in constant contact with someone. Remember the good old days when you either had to be home to receive a phone call or receive a letter by postal mail.

Get this: We are informed that we have to PAY the sheriff's office to get the name of the girl who hit our son, and to get the name of her insurance company. Unbelieveable....

What???? That doesn't sound right. I would ask your insurance company to see what could be done.

That's absurd - agree with Russ - check out the insurance company.

Does your state not have any laws againist using a phone whilst driving?

Here in the UK, it illegal to use and handheld device whilst driving and this includes using / changing the sat-nav. You can use a hands-free kit aslong as its something like bluetooth. I think you get a fine and points on your licence if you are caught
