What are things you never pay for...
A previous post on this board got me thinking about what are needs and wants. What kinds of things do people pay for and what do they do in place of? I know I never buy Ziploc bags and always use an empty container as suggested buy another poster. Thanks to coupons and their rewards at Rite Aid, CVS, and Walgreens, I never pay for shampoo & conditioner, razors, toothpaste, etc.

i never buy bottled water, soft drinks, paper towels, most household cleaners, swiffer - what a scam, fabric softener...
11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
credit card debt 7500
mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
then live on the rest!
i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

Magazines -- either get free, swap with a friend, read online (we don't have a library)
Books --- swap with friends, buy at yard sales - read - then resale for same price or more, read online, freebies ones from Amazon with PC Kindle
knit and crochet patterns - get free online
Eggs - we barter with neighbors that still have chickens (darn varmits ate all mine)

never buy aluminum foil, saran wrap, etc. . . I reuse margarine/yogurt/sour cream containers - use bread wrappers, etc.
never buy toothpaste, etc. . . either get free, or use baking soda/salt mixture to brush my teeth.
never buy fruit juices - eat whole fruits instead , get more fiber, more filling, etc.
never buy soda -- make tea, generic kool-aid instead with less sugar than it calls for. . .
never buy paper towels, etc. -- use old t-shirts, towels, etc.
never buy shortening - I save my bacon, or hamburger, or chicken fat for baking/frying. . . and yes, my cholesterol is normal, as well as my HDL ratio.
never buy disposable feminine products - either use Diva cup or washable handmade ones.

I have stopped paying for books, which was a HUGE step for me, and one which, I have fallen off the wagon a few times with.
I do still collect ghost/paranormal books, but I use my Swag Bucks to "buy" Amazon gift cards to buy them. And, all my friends and family know that if they're getting me a gift, an Amazon card is the way to go, lol.
For fiction, I utilize my local library.
