    Default Volkswagen Routan

Anyone have any experience with this van? My Dodge Grand Caravan is on it's last legs and it's starting to get to the point where we're spending a lot in repairs. I need a car that can comfortably seat 4 kids in the back. I like the Routan because the middle row has captains chairs, so the kids can go between them and you don't have to fold down a seat to get to the back row. My Caravan has a side way for them to get in, but I'm done with the Caravan. Anyway, we've done a lot of research, but I wanted to see if any real people had any info for me.

No VW here, but my mini van has the middle captains chairs and they are AWESOME!! They can go between them or beside them.

I totally agree with the captain chairs! No one touches another one! I do not have a van, a SUV. Pay the extra for the chairs, it is worth your sanity!

We also have the captain's chairs in our 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan, but we also have captain's chairs in our Explorer. And that involves crawling all over each other and fighting.

Our van has been wonderful, but I am realistic that it will eventually start costing more to maintain it. Thank God it's paid for!

Good luck, and let us know what you end up choosing!

My parents had an Oldsmobile Silhouette that had captain's chairs. It also had a VHS player with a small screen the flipped down in the center, behind the driver and front passenger seats. We had that van forever and it still ran fine when they finally traded it in, once my sister and I were driving. We used it a lot for the 6 hour trips north, to visit family at least once a year. Anyway, when I finally got my permit it was one of the first vehicles I drove and I liked driving it better than my dad's Bonneville.
