I remember shopping there eons ago out in Cali...sis got to visit it again this past week, she said she bought me a treat from there so I'm waiting to see what it is. Wish they had some out east so I could shop there. Whole Foods came to Canada...its just a matter of time for Trader Joe's. Back in the day I though they were overpriced....and kinda funky smelling too (health food store'ish) but now I'm used to that smell so it doesn't bother me as much since I shop at other similar type stores here locally.

I love their cheese - better quality and price than other places. They have these ginger chews that I like to eat, but are especially good when you have an upset tummy - just an excuse to buy more. They have very good wine values. Two buck Chuck is not my favorite, but I love the vinho verde, the ports, they often have good champagne, they often have very interesting beers. Check out for specials from South Africa and New Zealand.
The jarred sauces are good - Thai simmer sauce, pasta sauces.
They have this dunker cookie that we love - a chocolate chip shaped like a biscotti and dipped in chocolate - oh yeah, we like those babies.
I like their frozen meals to have around for something quick when I don't feel like cooking - the Indian and Mexican meals are great. Their yogurt is very good - I buy plain yogurt and flavor it myself.
Like any store, some things are not a great value, usually the produce is a better value for me at ethnic stores. But I adore TJ's, used to plan my trips back from LA so that I would have time to shop at TJ's on the way to the airport. I've written to them several time to suggest they open a store in my neighborhood, but they have two stores within about ten miles.
Oh, their white whole wheat flour is a WHOLE LOT cheaper than King Arthur's - good way to get more whole wheat in the diet.

The mayo is excellent. I buy it all the time. Right now they have a holiday special, stollen - filled with marzipan - it is wonderful. For thanksgiving they have the Butterball smoked turkey - all you need to do is heat it. If you don't need a whole lot of turkey, it is wonderful - really delicious and very stress free to prepare.
Some of them carry wine - I have been buying the Spanish rioja - very good.

Oh do I miss shopping a trader joes *sniff* They have the best stuff at ours. I love their snack beans, fried and salty. I used to eat them right out of the bag on the way home. Love the 3 ginger ginger cookies, chocolate lava cakes, the cheeses, oh the cheeses!
Ours carries free range turkeys, fresh from the farm. We've got lots of farms that do free range (really free range, out in the field. Not the free range where it really isn't but they can legally sell it as such because of a slight change in housing) out here. Not just turkeys, but cattle, chickens etc. You see them out just a munching away, the turkey fields are kind of freaky. Lots of gobbling. Anyway, our trader joes buys all the fresh, free range, organic stuff from out here.~~~

Oh..I am getting so excited for mine to get here and open.
I NEVER go to a grand opening........but might have to brave the crowds, that I know will be there, and do it for this store!
The only date I have is "opening sometime in 2011".....guess I best start saving for it too!!
