But the prices keep me from buying any. May look at store brands.

I try to stay away from processed foods which is another reason I haven't bought any.
    Sounds really good.

You can add all kinds of dried fruit, coconut, maple syrup, etc. when you start the crockpot. Every morning for breakfast, we have 1 1/2 cups of hot cereal per person, and we add home canned in juice nectarines, blueberries and/or pears, then we add fresh apple, strawberries, peaches or whatever fruit is in season. Then throw in a small handfull of walnuts or a tablespoon of ground flax seed. We never get tired of this because the fruits are always different. We never get hungry before lunch because of all the good fiber.

We gave up on dry cereal many years ago when the kids were small. They could eat a whole box at one meal and then still be hungry before the next meal. It just didn't work for us, besides being insanely expensive. For us, hot cereal is the way to go!!
We do eat Oatmeal, I love cream of wheat. But that has gone out the roof on price also..I love oatmeal with walnuts, rasains and a little brown sugar. Yummy.

I grew up on big breakfast every morning. My mom would always have Eggs, bacon or ham, fried potato's and toast or biscuts. Im talking in the 70's and 80's. I don't remember cereal coming into the house unless it was a box a boo berry, which was my favorite. Now days you don't find many families sitting down to breakfast like that anymore. It now pastry products, cereals or fast food.

shredded wheat is good. I use to eat that till i got acid reflux and my throat would swell at times and i would really have a hard time swallowing it.

i love cereal so do the kids with my fibro i am lucky to be out of bed and moving by teh time the kids go to school so they get their own breakfasts . when on sale i will buy pancakes or waffles and when time allows i make bulk pancake and freeze batches for heating up in the microwave .

we also do some instant oatmeals if i can get them on sale but mainly me.

if we ate foods like sausage or bacon in the AM we would probably be sick to our stomachs most of the day thats just too heavy for us - my kids take after me stomach wise - spices- greasy stuff- doesnt sit well most of the time and definetly not in the AM.

I like cereal for a dry snack late at night after work. I just stocked up on Quaker Oat Squares on sale for 1.49. Now that some really yummy crunch. But I agree - the price of cereal is out of hand.

Occasionally I'll get hungry for cold cereal and eat it at night, usually Grape Nuts (I just just don't like the generics of that - I've tried several.) But my problem with that is the milk. I only buy it when I want cereal, only a quart, and even then often end up letting some of that spoil, since it's just not something I use much. I want real food, usually supper leftovers, for breakfast. I was never able to eat hot cereal. I gag on it. Just can't do it.

I buy the boys each one box of cereal and that lasts them two weeks.

Cereal here has always been expensive. It'll be worse this year due to the flooding in the Praries.

I spend about $12 per two weeks on cereal for the kids. I don't mind it so much but they'll eat anything I give to them. DS12's favorite is generic corn flakes with banana slices. DS7 loves his Cinnamon Toast Crunch. I have to watch for artificial colour and flavour in cereal because DS12 can't have it and I can't bring it into the house. Even if I do and he asks for it, I tell him there's stuff in it that'll make him sick and he's fine with eating corn flakes with banana slices. When I was buying gluten free cereal, I was spending $10 a bag on some stuff.

I bought a few weeks ago cinnamon toast crunch. Won't buy that one ever again. My 3 year old grandson is allergic to cinnamon. It's was kinda one of those he might be but wasn't sure. But he got a nasty rash around his lips and inside his mouth.

We rarely eat cereal. I have nothing against it, and the price doesn't bother me too much, we just rarely eat breakfast. On the weekends, we'll have eggs, turkey bacon, and either hash browns or waffles.

Youngest ds could eat an egg or two every day with a piece of toast. Oldest and middle ds like cold cereal. Oldest likes eggs, but doesn't eat oatmeal. Middle one will not eat eggs, but will eat oatmeal. All of us love bacon, but we eat the REAL stuff...lol...no turkey bacon for us. We all like pancakes and waffles. Sometimes I'll make extras and freeze them for later. We like muffins and oldest and youngest and I like bagels with cream cheese.
