Trying to be supportive!
Someone in the area is wandering around and taking items from folks cars in my area. They do not seem to be taking anything left in the car but are looking for spare change and the few dollars that most of us keep in the sun visor or console. Well that person hit the mother load when they opened DH truck last night. He had forgotten to bring in the deposit and they ended up with almost 3000.00. To make matters worse the police department did not believe DH when he reported it this morning. He offered to take a lie detector test anytime since he has nothing to hide. I am alternating between being angry at anyone who would even suggest he stole $$$ or made up this story, anger at DH for being careless with that large amount of dough and feeling sorry for him all at the same time. We honestly cant afford to lose this much $$$ but the insurance will not reimburse since it was his work deposit and not our personal money. Of course we will make it right and pay for this ourselves. But in the long run I am grateful we have a little saved and can pay this expense. And it could have been much worse, he could be robbed or shot when taking the deposits to the bank. I suppose after all, money can be replaced right? Ah well.......count my blessings time.....

Oh my I am so sorry , what a horrible thing to have to deal with. Your poor husband must have had a lot on his mind, forgetting things happens to us all. I am sure you all checked under the seat, between the console and everywhere, I am just hoping and praying it might have fallen and will be found. Blessing to you!

I am so sorry that this happened to you. Karma does come back around and I really hope that whomever took this money really understands what they did and the consequences that will follow. Sending hugs and good thoughts your way as well as my prayers.

You know, they say the thief always returns to the scene of the crime, and it was quite a haul. I'm thinking the chances of a repeat visit are likely. Any thoughts on setting up a camera to catch the thief on film?

Sorry to hear this. Ahhh, the spirit of the Holidays. It always brings out the punk cockroaches of society. Probably needed cigs, booze, drugs. You know the things worth getting shot over. I'm with polly on this. Trap them. I doubt the police will bother. Hang in there, this too shall pass.

Sounds like a really horrible live and learn lessons. Luckily for you you had enough to pay for the added expense. It would have been even more difficult if you could not repay the money competely. Being frugal does pay off. Just wish you did not have to go through this.
