At Walmart...
I put 2 Jenny-O turkeys in my cart. A manager in the dept. walked past me and took them out, saying she had to go weigh and reprice them. Huh?
Come to find out they were having an unadvertised special on only Jenny-O turkeys- at 49 cents a pound! It was only one per customer, so my husband paid for one separately in line. Anyway, the manager said they were not advertising it, but for people to just ring the bell in the meat department and they will come out and redo them!
I don't know how long this special is for, but it doesn't hurt to ask if it is valid at your WalMart.

Yesterday I was going to pick one up as well. Then a little old lady came up to me and told me the store across the street hadthem on sale for .37 per pound! So I put mine back and went across the street. I wonder if they would have done that here too? They were also 68 cents per pound at our walmart.

Debbie-cat, that is an excellent deal! We only have 3 grocery stores here (that includes Walmart) plus an Aldi's, so there is little competition. The lowest they have gotten so far is 99 cents/lb. here.
I wish I'd find your deals!

I know what you mean booklover. We only have walmart and supervalu. This was a great deal as you didn't need a coupon although the limit was one. I am going back today to get another one!

Thank you Book Lover ! So glad you got a great deal. I wonder do you have a Kroger's in your town,if so they were probably trying to price match them at .49? Either way you did great! I know exactly what you mean with little towns, few stores, no competition , so higher prices at times~!

Our Tops has them at .38 a lb with a $25 purchase limit one...but I think that might be one total because we have to use their shopper card to get the price.

Thanks, HappyMama. The closest Krogers is 2 hours away, so they are no competition here. IGA, WalMart, Aldis and Copps is all we have-slim pickings in the savings department.

At Thanksgiving our stores always have specials on turkeys - the lowest I saw was at Times - $2.69 for 10-16 lb. Next was Safeway - $3.99 10-16 lb with $50 purchase.
A friend asked me to do some alterations on some shirts - and I asked her in exchange to buy me one of those small turkeys and store it in her freezer for me......we both think we came out winners!!Travel light. The baggage of the past can only hold you back.

Our Kroger had them for .29 a pound with a $20 purchase - hardly a problem since nowadays it almost costs $20 just to walk in the door. I bought the biggest I could find, a smidge under 17 pounds.
Another store also has them for .29 but were out yesterday. I may or may not check back Monday. I would probably have to use a crowbar to fit it in the freezer, but it's a terrific price. I would definitely get a smaller one there.Donna

Looks like you all got great deals on Turkeys. Good deal on the reprice BL.
Our local mom and pop store has them 39 cents a pound with a 15$ purchase.
I don't need a turkey this year as I'm working the holiday, but a good deal still. It is what it is.

Walmart has to match prices that come out in other store ads so they always have a turkey at the same price as the lowest turkey in town. It saves them time to have them priced than to have everyone pull out the ads etc.
