    Default Snowed in

It took about 2 inches of snow, and I am declaring myself snowed in. We are being told to stay at home, they played bumper cars on the evening commute, I suspect my son's school will be closed tomorrow, and I am going to work from home tomorrow.

    Only in Seattle...

We got that storm too. We had arctic outflow from the inlets on the mainland running up against the mountains on Vancouver Island, and giving us 7 inches in about two hours. It wasn't forecast at all.

Luckily, I parked the car at the end of the driveway - our driveway is impassible when it's snowy. I had to install the tire chains, and then go to the firehall and put chains on the trucks. The big hill on our main road was total mayhem with lots of vehicles in the ditch. Even the snowplow had trouble getting up it. This big Hydro truck spun out at the top of the hill and had to be winched off the hill.

My pipes froze overnight. I had to spend half my breakfast hour setting up heaters and light bulbs (I had to hunt for an incandescent - CFLs won't do the job) to thaw them. The water was flowing again by lunch time, with no damage fortunately.

They are predicting a Pineapple Express for the end of the week, so there is hope that the weather will moderate. However, there is likely to be freezing rain and other nasty stuff during the transition.

    Stay safe and warm!

It was in the 70's here today, had to open the windows and doors and turn on fans.

I so wish we could have some snow.

Yeow....hadn't even THOUGHT about CFL doing nothing....but I did make sure all my cupboards were open last night. Might even leave a 'trickle' running tonight as we are headed down for a record breaking MINUS 13 degrees!!! I have never had any problem but don't want to be 'spitting in the wind' either!!

We got it too. We're in Silverdale.

Kind of sick of hearing everyone whine about it, honestly. Our state is already darn near broke, and the moment we get a couple inches of snow everyone cries about how they're not capable of handling it or about how they don't salt the roads because it's bad for the aquatic life in the sound. Get some snow chains and get over it already, crybabies.

Oh, and I'm also sick of hearing "People don't know how to drive in snow!" Get that a lot from the military transplants here. Of course they don't know how to drive in the snow! The difference is the condition of the roads, not the skill of the driver. If your home state has a fleet of trucks that plow and salt the roads at the first sign of trouble, then you don't know how to drive in the snow either!

I like snow when I can stay home and keep warm. I'm retired now but when I worked , I was horrified when it called for snow !! Its all a matter of perception !!
