CC fraud stinks, but my bank comes through
Someone has been trying to use my credit card in the UK in hopes no one would notice I guess. Now I wonder what online retailer sold my information? This happened last year too, but the charges were denied and I kept the same number. Same country, same charge attempts this year as last year. Weird. (Attempted charges were for AOL, Skype, stuff like that, but from the UK, some charges were as small as $.02)
No harm, all the charges were denied by the bank from the get-go, but now I demanded to get a new number & am changing all my passwords (again, I do so often) everywhere as a precaution. I'll have to change all my auto-payments too. Small price to pay though to start over with a new #.
This is why you NEVER use your checking account debit card online.....ever. Use a credit card with a good fraud prevention department (US Bank has been great and catches all unauthorized charges). Perhaps they are more diligent since my card is set up through my business, and I keep a constant fraud alert on my credit reports.
....and yes I pay it off in full every month.

That is one reason I love PayPal. I feel pretty safe using their service.

CC Fraud is truely international now.
I had my UK card used in the USA, they bought slimming products and magazine subsriptions!!!!!!!!
I think the fruad police should be looking for an overweight magazine addict LOL!
In one year we had four, yes 4 cards defrauded, it was a bad year.
In each case the bank changed the number as sometimes the fraudsters "hang on to" the card and try to use it again in 6,9, or 12 months time.
Glad to hear you bank was good about sorting it out though

I had my paypal account hacked once - something was purchased through Wal-Mart. Not only did they hack my account, but they hacked my email to put the Paypal emails into my junk filter so I never even received them! My paypal account was linked to my spending account through USAA and my spending account had our main checking account as overdraft protection linked to it. So, we were out $645 for about a week - but paypal was very quick to follow through everything as fast as they could regarding the investigation and even paid me back the fee for having to use our account as overdraft. I still use paypal and I even have a debit card with it now, but if it overdrafts due to fraud, it does not go past my personal spending account. However, I make sure to change my passwords to all accounts often.
As to the op - glad your bank followed through quickly!
