Default Need to get back on the frugal wagon!!

I fell out of the wagon!!

I need to get myself back to being more frugal. Mother dearest is pushing me to spend spend spend. ( I am still living with her.) And its leaving me with moths instead of dollars in my pockets. Grrr

She is back to pushing that $150 for 2 adults and a toddler every 2 weeks for groceries is not enough. While there is meat rotting in the fridge because there isn't any room in the 2 freezer in fridges and a small chest freezer, while the food in there is just freezer burning into ruin. And there are is no way to find the food in the 4ft by 4ft pantry because its cramed full. If I complain I get the well how about trying to take care of a house hold. Although I have offered to help with a bill or give her a certain percent per month towards bills.

I have bought christmas for my daughter three times because christmas presents were given to her early, because " she needed them" My mom sees me bring home items in bags and she wants to see and then gives them to my daughter constantly. This fall my grandparents when I was at work put together the nice toddler storage table and chairs. My mother called me on my way home from work to complain to me that there was a small crack in the top. Then couldnt understand why I was mad that it had been gotten out put together when I had told my mom and grandparents it was christmas. Expecially since she had a table (mine from when I was a kid) still that was functionable, but would need replaced by christmas since she could pick it up and manhandle it around. Makes me believe they have no respect for me.

Worse yet I have fallen pray to Fast Food once again. DUH DUH DUUUUUHHHHHH!!! Spending $150 to 200 a month might not seem like a lot, but it adds up. I looked back over the last 6 months and I could have almost saved enough for the deposit on a appartment.

Good thing is that work is going to be offering over time starting perhaps the next week or so and lasting 7 months. How much over time is going to be allowed and for certain when it could start and how long it will be offered is still up in the air through. All of the overtime pay is going to go into savings.

I need to get back to only spending for "necessary" items.

    Per month:
    Groceries $300
    Daycare $350
    Student Loan:$175
    Remaining Debt $57
Gas $150 ( I keep this allowance high incase gas prices spike/ it is normally under $120 for bad weather driving since I go snow emergency routes to work when its bad out)
Entertainment $100 ( since I don't go out usually ends up being eating out for lunch or something)
Phone( paid to my mom ) $25

Ugh that almost makes me sick to my stomach that I spend that much and nothing to show for it really.

Yep.........would say you not only need to get back on the wagon but need to get REALLY SERIOUS about getting out on your own.

Any way, until then, that you can have a SERIOUS TALK with your mother?

    Good luck.......

I agree with Frugalfranny, time to stop spending, start saving and talk to Mom in the meantime. All those people go against your wishes because you aren't being assertive enough. You can do this, hop back on the wagon, plenty of room.

Missed you around, how is Miss Ellen doing besides being showered with toys?

Yelppers....there is TONS of room on the frugal wagon. Welcome back on. I would SAVE LIKE CRAZY to get the heck out of your mom's house. She doesn't seem to have your best "frugal" interest at heart. Good Luck

Glad to see you back! Get back on the wagon and save enough to get your own place. Then you will have no problem with your frugal ways cuz you only have yourself to answer to!

frugalfranny~ we have had serious talks ...things over time tend to go back the other direction ... infact the other night my mom actually said she did not fit in with my frugal ways when we were talking about the grocery bill, because it had been going up up up reciently.

Darlene~ spoiled rotten ... she has started wearing panties and going potty .. * sniffles * my baby is growing up ... she is able to do new things all the time ( and get into new things).. she can reach light switches now so that has been interesting. Drawing and reading are her favorite activies although she has gotten into pretending. She "makes" food and drink in her little kitchen and brings it to people to feed them.
