My DD18 is soooo hard to buy for. She is so particular about the styles and brands she wears. Usually she asks for very specific things then gripes that she knows everything she's getting because I always buy exactly what she asks for.
For the last year she has been looking for a very specific coat. She wanted a 3/4 length, plaid, wool coat with toggle buttons and a hood with no fur. This isn't something she asked for Christmas, just something she has been looking out for. She has seen lots of coats, but they always aren't exactly right. I went to the mall looking for a specific pair of jeans she asked for. Lo and behold I saw a coat that exactly fit her specifications! When she opened it on Christmas morning she was so excited. She wasn't expecting it at all.Carrie

My Ds fishes constantly. He is going to Northern college in the U.P. next year. I was so excited to get him a huge box of fishing lures as Gander MT. outlet was closing and everything was 90% off. He was speechless. I said he could share w/ his friend if it was too many. He said NO! and laughed. I actually got a hug.

My dh is forever complaining that our bed is cold when he gets in it at night. Our house is a split foyer so our bedroom is in the basement and it is a lot colder there than upstairs. I can't stand an electric blanket. Don't like the feel of them....so someone mentioned getting a heated mattress pad for their dh and I thought..bingo. He opened it yesterday and I then got it on the bed. He preheated it last night before he went to bed and the bed was all warm and toasty when he crawled in. This morning he told me he loved it and that it just wrapped around him. I didn't go to bed until later so by then it had cooled back down since he turned it off. I prefer cooler over warmer anyway. He said that it was almost as good as me keeping him warm. LOL

I couldn't wait to see DS open his Phiten necklace. he is a huge baseball fanatic and wanted a new necklace that matched the colors of his Little League team (navy blue and black). that thing was $60 but seeing his reaction when he opened it was priceless.
DD is hooked on pillow pets and she had already informed us that her pig pillow pet needed a friend, but not just any friend....it had to be a unicorn friend. DH and I searched over 10 stores to find that unicorn. and after watching her squeal with excitement when she opened it I am so glad we found it. she even ran upstairs to get the pig so she could meet her new friend.

i think there was something for each of my immediate family i couldnt wait for them to open -
but the one that was the best was a refurbed wii from gamestop that i got for my 22 yo because he never asked for it , just mentioned in passing a few months ago he was thinking of getting one for himself if he got a tax return , since the family wii ( actually the 16 yos ) is in the family room and the TV is always in use by the younger kids .
he was like a 5 yo - he must have said "I got a wii" - "i cant believe i got a wii" 5 times that AM LOL
all he had really asked for was new clothes for work and casual clothes and a new winter coat .*~Debbi~*

I was thrilled to watch my 23 yo son open his bottle of Coke. . . because it was actually an empty bottle of coke. . . well. . . empty of Coke a Cola
I cleaned it out, added strips of tissue paper and stuffed it full of cash - enough to get the engine rebuild kit he was wanting. He was shocked, and thrilled. . . like a little kid. Kept telling me I couldn't do that - -couldn't afford that, etc. It was funded with our change jar

Posted in another thread, but the stuffed animals I had made of my wife and I. They turned out quite well, although her eye color was wrong. I'm not sure if it was a mistake on my part or theirs, but she doesn't mind.

Beginning 8 yrs ago my sister and I started doing a framed picture of the grandkids for my Mom for Xmas. This started with 4 kids then to 5 and now there are 7. So the last few years we have been trying to get a little more original and change it a bit here and there. About 5 yrs ago we stopped going to a studio and I began doing the pictures, 2 years ago my sister,me and my brother did a picture @ Sears for her(it had been 15 yrs since we had done one) last year we made the photo albums @ walmart with pictures from the year....well this year....we decided a portrait of all of her kids and grandkids...14 of us...we did a picture @ Sears for her. It came out so good. So we were all so excited for her to see it! That was the BIG gift for her...she ALWAYS cries and every year we try to get her to cry harder...lol!
This year my BIL also put together a beautiful set of black and white pictures of my nieces decorating the tree for her...tears!
I did a 3~5x7 frame of the boys football pictures from this year...tears! I also have an AWESOME picture of her and DS1 after his 1st Varsity game so I printed that and got a BEAUTIFUL frame at Hallmark with my $5 off $5 lol....tears!
Its funny because we get her what she asks for or needs....slippers,flannel sheets,pj's NOTHING compares to the pictures for her. We know she knows shes getting them but it still gets her everytime!

I bought hubby a voucher to go to a open air museum in the west of new south wales. It's an overnight stay with behind the scenes tours etc. We had been talking about going for years and we finally are. As a lead up I also gave him as sleeping bag an a childrens animal book that I had the voucher in.

My hubby said that the photo collection that I gave him is his favorite gift this year. I catch him sometimes just standing and staring at it, and it gives me such pleasure to see him have such pleasure.
