The gift you couldn't wait to give!!
Merry Christmas!
Was there a gift this year that you couldn't wait to give? The one you really wanted to see the recipient unwrap?
For me, it was a set of 8 framed photos that I gave Hubby. Before our home in MO sold, we went out one spring day and took loads of pics of the flowering dogwood in the woods. It was beautiful! At the time we didn't know that it would be our last spring there.
Hubby kept saying that he wold like to have some of them framed. So I found a large composite frame for 8 photos. I worked on the photos with PhotoShop until they were just right and then had them printed. Then I put the composite together. Today Hubby was almost in tears when he unwrapped the gift. I couldn't wait for him to see it, but had no idea his reaction would be that great.Spiritual:

What a fantastic gift fHg!! I wish I would have thought of that before DS and I moved from our last home. He would have loved it.
For me....I couldn't wait for DS to open his GPS. It isn't a normal GPS but one that he will use for school. When he is on archaeological digs, it gives him all the information he needs. It was awesome! He loved it and was almost in tears when he opened it. I saved for that thing for so long and scrimped and saved on every category in our budget to buy it for him and it was worth it. It gave me the warm fuzzy feeling.

I was really excited to see dh's face when he opened up his gift from our dd. He is a huge college football fan (Nebraska Cornhuskers) and she bought 4 tickets for us to see them in their bowl game next Thursday against Washington. He is so excited!

My 4-year-old great nephew was SO excited to receive his little playdough play set from us.......he acted like he had never seen playdough before and sat in his booster chair and played with it in amazement for over TWO hours! He made spaghetti and all sorts of shapes with it. I honestly didn't think his attention span could last that long! (mind you, the kids of all ages had fun playing with him and the playset, too!)

It was not me, but my DH who could not wait to give a gift this year. We had an old guitar up in the attic, DH dug it out, cleaned it up and put a bow on it for our youngest son. DH was not disappointed, our kid just flipped for it.

I couldn't wait to give DS1 his atari system I got on ebay. He seriously loves the 80's (movies, music, etc) and asked for a vintage atari (I was so excited because he never asks for anything for himself so I knew he must really want it for him to ask). He freaked out when he opened it & he was playing astroids with his uncle already last night. Truthfully I can't wait to play pacman lol.

aww Jessie...when I think about how many hours of my youth I wasted on Donkey Kong.....LOL Glad your son liked it

For me it was all my kids stuff from santa. We cut way back this year but I was still able to fill thier wishlists with careful shopping so it was great! My 3 year old son was the cutest when he opened his Toy Story 3 movie. He opened it said "Toy Story 3 (then he pumped his little fist in the air) and whooped and said yeah I got it!" It was so funny! He's 3 going on 13 lol But it was the kind of reaction I was hoping for

We bought each child a huge, soft, fluffy, brilliant colored floor pillow and wrapped them in trash bags (they were that big and would have taken a whole roll of wrapping). It was driving them crazy seeing the trash bags under the tree. Each child loved the pillow and has been dragging them all over the house.

What I couldn't wait to give (to my children)was the news that I had quit smoking the month before. I quit at Thanksgiving and wanted to keep it a secret surprise for Christmas Eve. Might have felt to them it was their best present.

I had two gifts that I was excited about...
I gave my sister a program for our upcoming music schedule at work. When she opened it, she saw an IOU for two Huey Lewis tickets. She LOVES Huey Lewis, but I can't actually get the tickets until next month when they go on sale. She seemed quite excited, nevertheless.
The other was a framed panoramic photo of a ladies' swim team from 1927. My friend saw it in an antique shop and LOVED it.

The gift I couldn't wait to give was a gift I bought for Dh, at the last minute, but it is the gift I have wanted to give him for the past 22 years, since we were juniors in high school.
Dh is a hockey player and the most inspirational story of all time for him is the story of the 1980 USA Olympic hockey team. Anyway, he's always wanted a framed photo of "the miracle on ice."
Dd and I went to the mall on Thursday and walked into this little, privately owned sporting goods store. I thought I'd see if they had a Giants sweatshirt for Dh. I just didn't know what to get him. Dd said, "Does Daddy want a sweatshirt?" and I said, "Well, what he really wants is a picture of the miracle on ice, but a sweatshirt will have to do." I don't know what made me say it, as I haven't thought about it in years, and he hasn't mentioned it in longer. It so happened that I said it as I was passing the owner of the store and he said, "I have one. On the back wall."
I went to the back of the store, and there, hanging on the wall was a huge, framed, photo of the team celebrating the win at their goal, SIGNED by every member of the team, with photos on the back of each person signing it and a certificate of authenticity. The catch? It was $750. I stared at that thing for 15 minutes and Dd just waited for me. Finally, I decided that this is a guy who doesn't ever ask for anything. He takes good care of us, works hard at his job, is a wonderful husband and father, and would never, in a million, gajillion years buy it for himself.
We had some money put aside in a separate account, and I finally decide to buy it for him. I did, brought it home, wrapped it, wrote the check to Amex immediately and mailed it in.
I wasn't sure if there would be a lot of "take it back...it's too expensive," but there wasn't. Just a teary-eyed guy saying thank you many times. I'm so glad I took the plunge. I love that guy.My Blog: http://amysreallife.wordpress.com
