Insomina sucks
It is 1 am and I am still awake not by choice!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate so bad having insomina. Its not every once in a while it is all the time. I take some meds to help me sleep but even they are not helping anymore. The one pill I have been on for 2 years I think I finally just got used to it. I have insomina so bad that with out meds I can stay awake 4 to 5 days then I end up in the hospital because I went a little loopy. I think its time to start playing with my meds to fall asleep and the meds to stay asleep again. Before my furinture has a song and dance like fiona's had in shrek 2 when she meet her fairygod mother the first time. Because heck yeah I would be joining in.

I go through periods of insomnia and it's awful. It's not so bad if I can take a sleeping pill early enough, but I don't like to take them late in the evening because then I have trouble waking up the next morning. So there have been a few days I've gone to work on little to no sleep and I don't think it's particularly safe to be driving in that condition. Hope you are able to get some sleep, and yes, it sounds like your meds aren't helping much so it'd be a good idea to talk to your doctor about that.

Along with changing the meds.....try changing what you do before bedtime..........advice I have seen says........
no caffeine
don't play computer games
no eating
sit in total quiet about 15 minutes before going to bed and just relax
Heard melatonin works but haven't tried it but a couple times.......didn't do much for me.
I like and use Unisom when I need something........but try to take it about 7 for the same reason that LB posted.

Dr. Oz had a show about this the other day. Hormones play such a huge factor!!
I deal with this but not as much as I used too. Sometimes I'm my worst enemy when it comes to sleep. For one, shut off the puter and I'm working on not stressing over things I can't control. And also since I feel like such crap with little sleep, it helps me focus on the next moment I have time to get zzzzz's.
Maybe check back with the doc and try some Melatonin. Maybe check out 5HTP.

not fun! I work 7p-7a and typically once a week on my night off I am wide awake at 4-4:30am. Well, this morning was that morning...unfortunately, I was wide awake at 1am. Not good, because I have much to do today and will end up sleeping at some point.

I am right there with you. It is past 2 am my time. I am still up. I have started taking a half of a benadryl tablet to get sleep.
Two of the three of my guys take melatonin every night. One of them takes 5 mg and the other takes 3 mg. They also take benadryl once in a blue moon. One gets it several nights in a row if he is in a "no sleep cycle". He goes through periods where he sleeps just fine and then he hits a cycle where he can't sleep for a few nights. Sometimes, those few nights become a few weeks. I will give him benadryl a few nights in a row when he gets into a cycle like that (and he starts looking like a raccoon because his dark circles are so dark and big).Beak-1996, Toad-1998, and Q-1998

I would definately speak to a doctor about adjusting your medications so you can sleep.
I have problems sleeping also. Here is what I find helps.
Do not drink anything with caffeine.
Go outside to get some fresh air once a day.
Go to bed and wake up the same time each day.
Try to get some type of exercise each day.
Take the least amount of allergy or cold medicine as possible.
Eat a light dinner.
I have also started doing relaxation exercises when I feel my back and neck are tense. I usually do this around 7:30 pm. 8:00 pm for me always means I stop whatever I am doing and just veg out for a couple of hours before going to bed.

Can you go to a sleep doctor or clinic? My DS24 did and got an auto-pap machine and he's sleeping so much better!
