    600 a month won't even rent you a room in someone's house.
    11% gross to retirement
10% takehome to tithe and offerings
emergency fund maintained at 3000(works for me)
    credit card debt 7500
    mortgage free
freedom accounts/sinking funds that ebb and flow
    then live on the rest!

i am trying something new. LDS church advises savings or debt repayment should be the same as the tithe. 10% each.

OK, fair enough. I like shortcuts, too. And yeah, Frisco, yuck! It's "the city" or "San Francisco", darn it (SF when typing)!

Having lived in the Bay Area (San Jose), I can vouch that it is definitely NOT cheaper. My husband and I lived in a 3rd story walk up apartment (approx 1000 sq feet) and after rent, utilities, and parking we paid about $2500 a month. Gas is almost $3.50 a gallon, and food is definitely more expensive. And as a previous poster mentioned, it is California, not Cali, and the city, not "Frisco"! *pet peeve* lol.
