My resolution is to lose physical and financial weight...no more excuses!
I believe the financial weight loss will be most benificial to my health...The stress and anxiety I get over $$ is pathetic...
Although,I did make a few some great strides this year...I put my mortgage on a weekly payment...This helps 2 fold for me...1)it's out of the bank the same day I get paid so there's no chance to use it...2)my house will be paid off a few years early...I think around 7 years early....The reason I did this earlier this year was because I was facing my 2nd loan modification in 2 years...(we've only owned for 4 years!)
My next step is to catch up on my 3 monthly bills...I'm in the process of that now...
After that I've written out a weekly budget...I cant save $$ so I pay weekly...
I am also gonna start putting $$ in an envelope every week to start an EF...I'm gonna try to keep this envelope but if I find I'm dipping into it I'll give it to my SIL...
I'm done being stressed...
continue to work on paying down debt
make a commitment to making sure i put myself and my health before some other stuff
would like to get in a family vacation for a few days to beach or busch gardens - butthat may have to wait until i see what happens with tax time - if we owe that will probably not happen.
hopefully lose some wt - maybe 15 lbs would be good .
I don't make resolutions but I do set personal goals all through the year. I think giving myself a whole year for a resolution makes it too easy to put it off and then not get done. Now making a goal for say this month or by the end of March works so much better for me. They are really the same thing but I give myself a shorter time frame to keep the motivation going.
I don't really have resolutions. Just A list of goals.
1. Build up a stockpile
2. Save money
3. Buy a newer car
4. Read 75 books
5. Finish Quilt for my bed
6. Pray and read my bible more
7. Get organized
8. declutter and donate items
Thats it for now. I am sure there will more as I think about it throughout the next couple of days.
I don't make resolutions any more failed to many times.I try setting goals sometimes fail at them but do better then when i was making resolutions.
1 goal is to study bible more
2 try sewin again
3 pay more on cc card bill
4 stock pile more
5 have as few spend days a month as i can
6 stick to my budget
7 not waste food or anything
8 stick to menue planning
9 learn to chroche
10 finish up some projects i have had started for a long time
11 save for christmas
I didn't really set any resolutions, moreso a continuation of personal goals I had already set:
* Continue to loose the cm. I have lost 10cm off my tummy since the start of September and want to loose another 10cm.
* Get on top of my personal debt.
* Get through the next 2.5 semesters of uni.
What I achieve this year will set me up for the following year and so on into my now 5 year plan.
mine are goals too- i change them monthly when i need to but they are really just basic plans in reality - of what i hoep to acheieve - i dont get getting depressed if you dont make them by the end of the year if thats happening they are possibly setting goals/ resolutions they cant or arent ready to try to obtain .
This is what I was going to say. I join a whole bunch of challenges here at FV. Set a few personal things I want to work on but if I fail.. I fail. There is no success without failure.
I don't make resolutions because I find I tend not to keep them. I do much better at having an ongoing list of goals that I reevaluate and update as needed. The Twenty Wishes challenge last year is an example....I had a list of 20 things I wanted to do and I accomplished several but not all of them. And even though I didn't accomplish all of them I feel like I was very successful in reaching some of my goals last year and am looking forward to reaching more of them this year.
I applaud you for the goal of being a better mom to your son. Our children do need the best we can give them, not the leftovers after we've given nearly all we have to our jobs or whatever.
I participate in a goal site (43things.com) and listed my resolutions there. The community has been great for me, that is, I've found friends, supportive people who'll cheer on my successes and commiserate with me about my failures. Since my family support is nonexistent, and always has been, finding a group of people who're willing to participate in my life in general has been a big help, FV has too, but I tend to do most of my not money related goals/posts on 43t.
I have 9 resolutions this year:
To finish the 3 books I currently have about 1/2 done is the major one; work on the second anthology (if it sells) is another.
Two are related to making our house into a home, two others are related to emotional growth.
The last three are to grow more of our food, get rid of a storage unit, and pay off a credit card.
I really don't make resolutions any more either. I have a list of goals though.
-eat out less
-couponing
-organize
-make my house a home
-make some homemade christmas gifts
-lower my grocery bill
-menu plan all year
They are goals I would love to keep so we will see how it goes
Wow - some great resolutions here - help me think of things I need to do also. My number one, though, is to lose weight. I put on about 25 lbs in the past few years, doing unsuccessful fertility treatments and eating as a stress reliever. Now on an adoption waiting list and things are going well, need to get back to my exercise routine. I've never been heavy, so this has been an awful experience feeling like I'm not myself. I'm focusing not only on the weight loss, but all of the other benefits of exercising - having more energy, sleeping better, better skin, etc.
I have stopped making New Years resolutions. But one thing I started doing last year was being more optimistic and just plain happier. It is definately not an easy thing to do but I decided I am getting older and life can be to short and there just is a lot to see, learn and do that can make you happy. It also seems to irk unhappy people which is a plus. lol
I love this quote that was in Momto5RN's signature:
“Fear less, hope more; Eat less, chew more; Whine less, breathe more; Talk less, say more; Love more, and all good things will be yours”
I don't know about "all good things" coming, but I like the ideas.
As for resolutions -- I love to make them. I make a bunch every morning when I wake up, especially on Mondays. ) I fill pages of notebooks full around this time of year. I enjoy reading them and even google search for other peoples. I think they're encouraging.
I resolve to hang out around here ~~ the posts on F.V. are bound to keep me on steady tracks towards better living.
I resolve to say yes more. "Yes", let's meet for ___. "Yes", I'll help you with that. "Yes", I could use some help myself. "Yes", I will reach out and be part of your lives.
I resolve to journal more (and blog). And to drag out the colored pencils, paints and crayons for my paper journal.
I resolve to go to movies. In a real movie theater. ~~ at least once a month.
