I'm a former Mt. Dew addict also and I feel your pain! I can't imagine drinking that much of anything in one day though. I had to cut the Mt. Dew out because of reflux. I finally figured out one day that the days that I had the worst problems were the days that I had had Mt.Dew. I cut back a little at a time and still suffered from the caffeine withdrawal headaches some, but eventually I got off of it. Now Mt. Dew tastes really odd to me. It seems to be overly sweet and almost makes me gag!

had a similiar issue myself. I used to drink Mt. Dew like it was going out of style. I kept the 20oz bottles at work and usually went through a 6 pack a day and then 1/2 gallon tea when I got home.

You may want to try switching to diet for a while before cutting it out. You have been used to that much caffine for sooo long that the headaches are going to get worse.

I can't handle diet... I am almost at the end of 2 weeks and so far I have only had 2 headaches and the last one was very mild..

Anyone know where those caffeine tabs are in Walmart? I hate trying to find things there if I don't know exactly what I'm looking for!

I would love to get rid of my soda habit! But I know the headaches are going to be terrible and cutting back isn't going to work for me. Going to have to be cold turkey or not at all.

    Thanks!

    Probably in the pharmacy area?

I am addicted to Coca~Cola. I'm like Syn_D and can't cut back cold turkey. Tried that once and I was up at 3 in the morning sneaking pop out of the fridge, paranoid that the noise of the tab opening would wake up DH and out me.

So I am cutting back. I am down to two a day, and may get a Diet Dr. Pepper if I need an extra bit of caffiene.

This week I have been down to 1 or 2 a day (still haven't used up the 12pk)... I told myself, only with lunch and dinner.. I have missed lunch twice this week and I was good at sticking to it and only had 1 with dinner those days, instead of making up for missing the one at lunch...

I'm not a big will-power person, but I am doing good with this and the post here have really helped me... It is good to see that no one is in the same boat I was with the 8550cal a day, but also good to see I'm not alone with the soda love

I was told it is going to take me sometime to really feel the benefits from stopping the soda, cos' of the amount I was drinking, but when it hits, I will surely feel it... I know when I talk to people about it, I get a good feeling knowing I stopped the madness, so there is one benefit.. I'm my worst critic so it's a plus benefit...

Cutting the amount of caffeine and sugar you were previously ingesting takes a huge amount of will power. Seriously, you're doing much, much better than I would ever expect from anybody.

Please keep us updated on your progress. Oh, and if completing this accomplishment encourages you to take on another tough challenge, let us know that too! Succeeding gets to be a habit, like anything else.
