So far it's icy out, really slick, but the ice storm has not begun yet. They say sometime around 11 for out this way. Expecting about a 1/2 + of ice. Told us to expect major power outages. First they said 1/4 inch +, now more. I wonder if they really know?

I've been preparing throughout the day. I've got some meals started now. Jambalaya in the crockpot, brown rice in the rice cooker. I need to get a pot of chicken rice soup on the stove, a loaf of bread in the bread maker, some pumpkin muffins in the oven, a chicken & pepper stir fry, some pasta salad, some jello, maybe a few other things. Said to expect L-O-N-G power outages.

DH actually was thinking we might have to "pop" over to his parents if it goes on too long. They are on a different grid even though they are right down the road. ROFL! Silly man, I think he's forgotten that once it starts we are forbidden to be on the roads. As if that would be a good idea in the first place. I just keep on preparing and if it happens, we are going to be hunkering down for the long haul.

Well all schools are closed. It is a snow day here. I am not sure though if I still have to take my grandpa to his Dr. appt today. I have not heard if the clinics at the hospital are open. I am hoping not because he is pretty frail and it is very very windy. It is with the surgeon who did his emergency surgery when his bowel twisted a few months back. So we would have to reschedule it if we canceled and that could be months again. But I also don't want to drive in this with DD well I would be the passanger I don't drive, my cousin is driving.
We have gotten some snow but have not got dumped on yet. It is supposed to really start in the next couple of hours.

We only got a few more inches during the night and early morning here. BUT we did get a good sleet coating on it, so lots of yucky stuff to contend with. Quite a few of the area schools did close today. The orginal prediction was 12 to 18 inches for this area, but the storm moved north. We will probably get more precipitation of some sort this afternoon.

What a bummer - my kiddo got a snow day and I was stuck at work all day BOO. I was pretty pointless, too. There were 3 customers all day and 6 employees that made it in.

The sucky thing is (well not for them) the people who didn't come in still got paid and those that did come in got paid - in a way it doesn't really seem fair, ya know?

Enough whining - I'd just like to see enough precipitation tonight so tomorrow everything will be closed (not holding my breath, though).

We got 16-20 inches of blowing snow! The drift in my driveway, was up to my hips!! Much too high for my snow blower. The really odd thing was we didn't lose power, several others did all around my neighborhood, but not ours...which is odd because we ALWAYS lose power! No school tomorrow for the town, but I'm going to attempt to get to work. Pray everyone is safe and warm.
