The Circle of Giving and Receiving , ( long)
I posted something on another thread of which I didn't want to hijack but got me thinking .
There are so many wonderful people here at the village. Creative, inspiring, frugal and inventive. I wanted to give kudos to you all.
Do you have a talent that blesses others, a way to write maybe, helping with financial advice, has someone blessed you or taught you something you would like to share? Please help me see your world, your accomplishments, your joy, a peek into your family Share away !
Each person has talents, gifts, ideas and ways to bless others. How have you been inspired IRL lately? Have you re purposed anything? Used anything creatively? Found Any great deals? Given anything away that you hope will bless someone else? Found any good deal or find that will bless your life. And....the circle continues:
Here is my post :
Finding bargains needs or wants for my family has always brought us joy. I love recreating in my art studio, taking things and re purposing. I found an old antique French Provençal couch and re upholstered it to look like one in a magazine . The cost in the magazine 3, 500 the cost to me, driving to get said sofa, my time and energy , 60.00 for the sofa and the cost of material. Priceless. I learned a new skill.
How about you?
Beauty is always in the eyes of the beholder, one mans junk is another mans treasures and what one family no longer needs in making room for more in their lives or their needs another can always use.
Everyone is at different stages of their lives, needs, children's ages, family goals and the joy of passing things on , receiving new is a gift. Gifts or blessings, deals , wonderful finds always bring joy to the giver and receiver. If you pass things on more will come into your life as you finally have the room for a new craft, hobby, need or want.
I have always called the circle of giving a blessing when giving or receiving. It is a good way to help yourself, help others, bless someone, recycle, give more room in your home, or expand your world. I have an art studio, I put about it in the no TV thread so I won't repeat here but I love sharing, giving, making new things out of old, passing things on and getting new.
Continue shopping and living the way that bests suites you and your families needs lives and budget. If that works for you then enjoy and continue onward with Joy and happiness. Maybe someone will be blessed by something you pass on, buy or find and the circle continues.
Each day things are destined for the attic, garage, dump if each person could take a few things their family never uses anymore and make room in their lives for a need or want, the need will then be filled in the void as there is now room for it. So many needs and wants are fulfilled this way it is a beautiful sight . I started a food pantry at my Church ( in another state ) many years ago, and was a member of a service organization that helped those in need so many times I saw the tears in peoples eyes when things were donated and we thought of certain individuals and they would say :" I need that exact thing , thank- you ". Made my day every time.
Whether the deal is found in a store, thrift store, garage sale, consignment, mega store or the curb if your family needs or wants it , then what a wonderful day! Gifts, bargains and whatever are blessings if they can be used, will be used, enjoyed and fill a need or want.
Be happy with your deals, enjoy finding them, share with others, pass on your unwanted and help the circle continue.

I just try to be the friend/mother/sister/daughter/aunt/neighbor
/co-worker/wife etc. I can be. The way I look at is, if I give my best but do not look for anything in return I feel the most joy in giving.
If I am asked how I can be repaid I tell people to pay it forward.Carrie, ravenmaniac - I love my Ravens!!!!

RavenM,
That is such a beautiful perspective and way to live. Those who have you enriching their lives are so lucky. You are definitely a joy bearer. Paying it forward keeps the circle of love going and giving.*Angel*

long
I have one story that to this day still makes me wonder where this man is, who he was, and how he is. It was on July 4 about 4 years ago and it was 98 degrees outside. I was going to town and passed a man on the other side of the road standing there like he was waiting for a ride. He was standing right in the driveway of a farmer and could easily be seen by the farmer. He looked as if he were wearing every piece of clothing he owned including boots and a coat and he had a huge backpack. He was still there when I went back by about 30 minutes later. All the way home all I could think of was the Bible verse Hebrews 13:2, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." So when I got home I unloaded the groceries and told DH to get his shoes on and why.I told him I didn't care if the guy was an axe murderer, noone should be in that heat. I made a ham&cheese sandwich, grabbed some chips and a can of cold 7-UP and off we went in the truck. When we asked him if he wanted a ride up the road he just put his things in the back and started to climb in the bed of the truck. I told him to come up front in the airconditioning. I offered him the food and drink and he politely thanked me and started eating. He hummed and ate at the same time. He reminded me of a child who was happy to have some icecream. We took him into the next county about 11 miles up the road and dropped him off where he could at least go into a bar that was opened if he needed to use the restroom. He was heading to a town about another 50 miles away. I often wonder if anyone else found enough compassion to help this poor man get to his destination and of all the things I've done in my life for the good, this will always stand out. I didn't do it for the glory or hoping to be paid back in some way. I did it because that's what God put us here for. To help each other. I was told by some people it was a stupid thing to do. Maybe but I really feel pity for people with attitudes like that. They will need help someday and maybe not get it because others will think it a stupid thing to do to help a stranger.

Cat,
What a beautiful story. Hebrews 13:2, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares." Yes very true indeed. I have had a few stories like that and will maybe share one day. Your story brought tears and a smile to my face. Keep being your beautiful self, sharing and Believe.
Hugs and blessings*Angel*
