Here in Texas, it rarely snows like it does up north; it ICES. Roads are covered in a thick layer of dangerous ice. On the news, reports abound of 18-wheelers jack-knifed and blocking entire roadways. Cars are stuck on the roads behind them and stranded. It was 70 degrees here on Sunday; today it is 17 degrees with a wicked wind, keeping those roads very trecherous (we don't even OWN snow plows here in Texas). We're not really used to that so we're quite poor at traveling in this kind of weather. Most businesses and schools are closed today.
Yesterday the temperature was -35 with a windchill of -42. So most of the schools were closed. Today it is only -31 with a windchill warning so the schools are open, but the kids will be getting indoor recesses.
Boston is getting hammered, school cancellations abound and today's storm will just continue into tomorrow. The only saving grace about it is that it's covered ugly brown snow with pretty white snow.
Sunny and chilly here but no snow. I did a bit of raking this past weekend and found several bulbs have just begun to poke through the earth. Daffodils, crocus, tulips.....yay!!
