Thumbs up Delayed Gratification - The Marshmallow Test

The Marshmallow Test | Igniter Media

    For your viewing pleasure.

If you could kick in the pants the person responsible for your problems, you wouldn't be able to sit for a month.

Did you know that a 4 year student paying $20,000/year who finances their education graduates with over $103,000 in debt to start? But a student who works and pays cash and takes 6 years to graduate ends with $6,300 in their pocket! So much for "getting a head start by financing!"

Very interesting on how being able to say "no" to yourself can reap benefits whether it is with a marshmallow when you are young or a big screen tv when you are an adult.... and can pay cash.

That's super cute. I'm reading a book where they talk about an experiment like this. They tested the kids on their ability to delay gratification and then followed them for years afterward, and the ability to resist the treat had a high correlation with later success for the kid.

This test has been done earlier too, with the message being that the key to success is delayed gratification. If you wait and do not give in to temptation easily, there are better things in store for you in the future. It’s lovely watching all those cute lil kids
