I'd have to disagree with the first one. We use onions and the couple of very thin layers you might take off, I think would be permeated by pesticides or herbicides. And I take offense that onions are not that great a food:
According to James A Duke - who wrote Healing Foods, his #2 of his Duke's Dozen (Greatest Disease Fighting Foods) was bulbs which are garlic and onions. Flavonoids in onions can reduce/prevent some forms of cancer. No better food source of Quercetin than onion skins! So it would be a good idea to have them be organic.Bonus Tip: Onions and avocados are extremely healthy for you. Still, they don't quite make our list of the 40 Foods with Superpowers—foods that, even in moderation, can strengthen your heart, fortify your bones, and boost your metabolism so you can lose weight more quickly.
The other stuff, give me a break, energy drinks, children's cereal, and weird chips. Why would anyone buy that stuff anyway?
And the Swordfish and beef, you are getting what you pay for. I would think there are other things in the supermarket that are worst deals, like some fancy beers, peanuts, and jerky. After all, those are the staples in many a young man's life!

They're a bit off on the gluten free thing too...lots of people (up to 15% of the population, possibly) are gluten intolerant but don't have celiac disease (you get the symptoms without the malnutrition/intestinal damage). My husband and kids are gluten intolerant. I've heard that going gluten free is the latest "fad diet", so I think that was the article's angle.
For our family, it would have to be some kind of an emergency before I shelled out $6+ for a tiny loaf of dry, store bought gluten free bread. I make all of our bread products from scratch...cheaper and much tastier!!Tara - SAHM to two beautiful little boys!

Have Courage
“Whatever course you decide upon, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising which tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires…courage.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
