    Default Murphys Monday...Today Sucked

Day started with having to get up early to go get a fasting bloodtest. A morning without coffee within about 15 minutes does not make for a happy mood. Stop on the way to get a Dunkins to slug down after I get in the car AFTER test. They totally over scheduled the amount of people so it was hurry up and wait.

2 hours after that I have a foot doctor appointment for an ingrown toenail that was getting infected. He had to give me 3 times the numb juice. That was at 10:30 this morning and my toe is STILL numb. He also gave me a prescription that I dropped off but it was going to be about 3 hours before it could be filled. So BACK home again I go.

2 1/2 hours later, still numb, head out again with the kid. Still not ready. Wait another hour. Head home. Get about 1/2 way home and hubby calls. Somebody had called him and there's a fire really close to the house. Pull onto the street ( we're the only house ) and a deputy car with lights on and another vehicle sitting in front of it. He said to start packing. Wasn't going to evacuate us yet but we'd better pack. It was a brush fire 2 streets over. Came back 3 or 4 times to check on us. We started packing. Comes back again and said wind had shifted and coming our way. Could possibly jump the street. Happens alot here.

Bottom line on story, last time said it would probably be ok, no guarantees, but probably. Backhoes, water something and trenches.
It's now 10:30pm and so far so good. Smoky as crap. He said tomorrow about 1pm afternoon when it all heats back up might be another issue. No one will be home.

Amazingly the same 4wheeler, red, was in the vicinity each fire that has happened. 3 or 4. Guess it can run about 80. To bad can't clothesline the little $%&%&$@. Remember how they got rid of the shark with the electric line. Last fire burned hundreds of acres. Almost got a horse farm.

Can't take many more Mondays like this. Scared to go to sleep.

Niko - what a rotten, scary Monday. Please take care of yourself. Did you tell the deputy about the red four wheeler? What is wrong with some people?

It still has a few places smoldering. Otherwise ok. The firemen did a fantastic job. Newspaper tonight said it got 20 acres. I drove around it yesterday and it had gotten one street over directly across from the house. I'm just thankful they were there.

Wow, Niko, just saw this. I have had to live through a couple of close calls, brushfire wise, and having to breathe in smoke for days afterward sucks. Glad to hear you are okay, though.
