I should not be allowed to leave the house during PMS week.
soooo - I'm really a rational person, I swear - I'm usually nice, kinda hyper, but pleasant and friendly for the most part -
I went into a store that I had never been into before - sorta like a salvage store, but very small.
now, judging by my age, you'd probably guess that I grew up with Charlie Sheen in my movies, in my tele, in my 80's world - am I obsessed with the man, no, NOT at all. Do I think he's a good actor, yep, sure do, but I don't subscribe to that whole 'up in the famous peeps business' so I don't really care about his personal affairs.
that being said - I go into this little store -
There's a girl behind the counter, working, sorta.
There's a guy, in his 20's maybe, redneckish - talking to the girl behind the counter - talking kinda loud.... loud enough that the entire little store can hear his comments.
ok - so he's annoying, but no biggie.
He's dronning on and on and on and on about what a loser Charlie Sheen is.... how he deserved to be fired.... how the hollywood contracts are written, and how Charlie Sheen will lose his court case because he's a druggie... on and on and on.....
by the time I got to the 3rd isle of this little store, my ears were bleeding.
The counter girl is saying what if CS files his suit (to be paid the remainder of his contract for the show that isn't finished) because of mental illness.
The guy states "he's not mentally ill, only if drugs made him mentally ill - mentally ill people don't do drugs"
really? I couldn't resist - so I say "ummm.... No. Many times mentally ill people will take drugs to try to compensate for their illness"
the counter girl says "yeah, they self medicate"
and here starts the arguement with a total stranger -
so I ask him "have you ever met CS? Do you know the man?"
He says "no, thank god"
I say "yet you stand here and judge him"
he says "yes, I stand here yada yada yada, I admit I wasn't listening at this point......
I interupt him during whatever babble he was saying and say "so it's really none of our business"
and he says "yeah, like this converstion is none of your business"
wow - what a little redneck pissant.
so I say "but you're having this converstion in a public place, loud enough for us all to hear"
he tells me "this isn't a public place.." waves his hand to me and tell me to "go back to my shopping"
I left. I'll never go back. I bet his mother is so proud.
soooo - I guess the moral of my story is: please be respectful of others in the store while you have an opinionated conversation that everyone else can hear. ORRRR better yet, just don't.
Was it my business? no, not really - but cooooome on - when I can't escape the freakin' conversation unless I leave the store - and the little moron was WRONG -
what would you do?Last edited by bumplett; 03-21-2011 at 10:25 AM. Reason: I can't spell today

LOL! My guess is he got pissy because you showed what a schmuck he was while he was trying to impress counter girl. I would have loved being a mouse in a corner, watching!

Now me I would have thought it was none of my business.
He was talking with someone and that someone was not me.
Some people talk loud some don't but we all have our opinions.
I think it was okay for him to express himself as long as no one was getting hurt. Ignorance and being uncouth is not a crime...maybe a misdemeanor lol.
I think the girl at the front desk was doing a good job trying to show him her point of view and giving him information about illness and self medicating. Some people will never listen and never change.
PS Last week all I wanted to do was run over people with my car so I hear you. I can understand temper flares and impatience my friend..ohhhh yeah can I relate! The math never lies, budget in INK!

I have no sympathy nor respect for Charlie Sheen or his abusive life, not that you care my opinion on him either just can't stand the man or his "issues" that he cares to spew so uncouthly in public. As for anyone judging him, if anyone can at an early age learn what not to be like as a man, more power to them whoever they maybe. Some of the best lessons in life when observing or dealing with certain people is what not to do or act like, it can vastly improve the way one handles situations or life. Sorry if I sound cold about him, I 'm not but have no use for the "celebrity" types that destroy their lives and any that enter their path.
On a different note sorry that happened to you, or bothered you in the store. Big hugs to you.*Angel*

LOL - ohhh, I don't really care about Charlie Sheen, I don't KNOW him.
BUT I sure wouldn't be spewing hatred towards ANYONE, famous or not, in PUBLIC.
I really don't make it a habit of butting into anyone else's conversations - first time, really. This one just annoyed me THAT much.

LOL yes see what you mean. I don't care to know CS...hehe his lifestyle and attitude is proof to me that he wouldn't be worth the time of day. Some people shine and I don't have to know them to admire and some people let you know them through actions, deeds, words or behavior to know whether you can admire them or decide that they are someone you not only don't admire nor want anything to do with. Don't need the up close personal observation when they chose to make an donkey out of themselves every opportunity. Just my opinions or observations not that they are worth anything , remember I am just sitting in the cheap seats on this one...LOL At least you can look at it and laugh, a sense of humor is such a gift.
I was a public elected official once, wouldn't want to do that again and I couldn't believe the things some people would do or say in public but to each his own I guess....lol Yes bumplett can be amusing at times ha?Last edited by HappyMama; 03-21-2011 at 12:44 PM.

Not sure I would have been able to resist with his "none of your business" comment stating back, "really??? Cause you were talking so loud, I figured you wanted the opinion of everyone in the store."
But then, I'm snarky like that.

I do try and ignore but i have developed a bunch of snarky little comments I grumble to my self-mostly.
1. My,My,MY did you miss the Mensa bus
2. There IS no depth to stupid
3. Amazing, I simply can't iimmmagine why your working here
4. Wow can't say I ever thought of it that way (cuz its stoopid)
5. my new favorite is a simply expressionless monotone "thank you" accompanied w/ slow head bob.
Last week the checkout girl said I ruined her time because I had too much clearance and she had to key in each one. First off, it's my time and not hers. I am the reason she gets paid to stand there. She would be laid off otherwise. 2nd if the stores stickers scanned properly she could have made her "time" providing she stopped flirting w/ the last customer.
She got a "You are too funny!!
Prob. shouldn't copy anything I say. No good can come of that.

It sounds like the girl wasn't impressed anyway, so he was probably pissy before bump every started the conversation.
She's totally right about mental illness though, people with mental illness do tend to self-medicate and after they do society really has no use for them. It doesn't matter what kind of mental illness a person is facing or how long they've tried to deal with it, the moment they touch any kind of drugs or alcohol, they're a druggie.
I can't honestly say I care about Charlie Sheen, but I don't see the point in going out of my way be grumpy about him.~Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.~

my opinion would have been..stay out of it..lol
i have conversation everywhere and hear conversations everywhere..its a free world..technically lol
so its really not your business unless you were invited in to the convo...but i understand what pms does to us too...
jmo but i hate for complete strangers to pipe in their unwanted comments into my conversation..especially if its just to try and prove someone wrong ...or to tell me my child is doing something he shouldnt ..DUH...why do you think im pulling my hair out!!! ..lol

If it's a free world (hahaha, I wish) then bumplett was just as entitled to butt in as they were entitled to have that conversation. If you're going to be obnoxious in public, expect other people to be obnoxious right back.
Having a noisy conversation about a sensitive subject in a grocery store is very rude and unprofessional. I don't want to hear what store employees think about anything other than the products they're selling or perhaps the weather.~Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.~

1. I do like Charlie Sheen.
2. I probably wouldnt have said anything until the guy started with the whole drugs causing Charlie to be mentally ill. I would have blasted him. Anything else and I probably would have not commented but I do tend to get a little touchy about mental illness.
Yay for you!!
