The other day my dd opened her mail to discover that she had been nominated by one of her teachers to go to the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. They have 10 different location throughout the US and she chose to go to San Fransisco. There she will be actively participating in what it is like to be a doctor, tour the university, hospital, and go to some lectures. She will also be receiving 2 college credits. At first she said "NO", because she didn't feel like the teacher "meant" it because she also nominated several other students. Then yesterday the teacher asked Roari how the paperwork was going and Roari said she didn't want to go. The teacher then presuaded her by telling her she is probably one of the only ones the teacher thought could really excel at the forum. YAY! I wanted her to go from the beginning. She has wanted to be a doctor from the day she turned five-or even before, she has never waivered on her goal, just what part of medicine she wanted to be in. This is going to give her such an opprotunity. I am very proud of my daughter and I tell her every chance I can. I just can't believe it! Granted she will be gone for 10 days, and have the chance to stay at the Stanford dorms, but it is soooo worth it. I am working on her scholarship forms this weekend, otherwise it would be a little over 3,000 for her to go. Hope the scholarship will bring it way down (I know grandma will help with the cost, she believes in education like this). Just thought I'd brag a little.
